Bought these as gifts as our school symbol is a lion. They are small, but detailed. Good to have on your desk and won't take up much space. The ladies loved them at work, good design.

I gifted these to my mom for Christmas I know they are intended to hold up books but my mom loves horses and she uses these as simple decor in her bedroom and it fits well, she really loved them so I recommend getting these for your fellow horse lover!

The bookends are very nice looking, but they are super small! Not big enough to hold a hardback book but rather a small child's book or a small paperback handheld book.I bought these for a gift and I was a bit disappointed.

Firstly, I have to say, I absolutely LOVE the sculpt on these lions! It is fluid, dynamic and has beautiful motion in it. The faces are realistic and regal. The proportions are correct and they are classic poses. The casts are good, but not great, and it seems like not enough was done with quality control, as there are obvious spots where you can see voids and holes, where they are not there on the other lion sculpt, which shows they are flaws in the casting and not part of the design.But where these really fall flat, is the (paint) finish. They have these beautiful sculpts...and then RUIN them with a terrible, uneven and, dare I say it, LAZY paint job! It's just SLOPPED on! It looks nothing like the very nice, even, slightly matte finish shown in the listing photos, where there is even coverage and dark areas are simply natural shadows, but instead, in reality, they simply left MANY areas without ANY paint on it AT ALL! As if they were in a rush to finish the job. I have taken time to point out some of the more blaring examples of what I am referring to by putting red arrows pointing at some of these spots and areas in the photos I uploaded...and believe me, I didn't point out every one. The bronze-ish one is clearly attempting to emulate a bronze finish, which is well portrayed in the listing photos...but on the actual product, it simply looks like gold paint slopped on the figures by a large, paint soaked brush, leaving large areas and nooks and crannies with NO paint on the surface AT ALL, just the raw black resin! Really UGLY!Like I said, I LOVE the detail and character of the sculpts of these lions, so, as I have some experience and knowledge of applying a faux bronze finish, I will be stripping the gold and silver paint off of them and applying a proper faux bronze finish on them myself. It's just too bad that...(1) The manufacturer decided to get so LAZY with the finish application, and (2) That the manufacturer decided to use photos of some very nicely finished examples...and then didn't make the actual product look anywhere near as good as they are represented in their listing.I give these figures 4 out of 5 Stars, primarily because the sculpts are so striking, but I am being generous, because the terrible finish on them all but ruins them, and I can't see most folks refinishing them, as I intend to do.
