Removes the tablet's potential power connections tendency to short out
I've had a heck of a time locating one of these docks. I have noticed that the power connection that plugs into Dell laptops has a tendency to break. So, I wanted something that would eliminate the need to keep plugging in the power connection. It appears that Dell has stopped producing these units and I was thrilled to find a used, reconditioned one at under $300.00. It looks like new and does the job just the way I wanted it to. Very happy with this purchase.

Arrived DOA. No exchange option available.
Item did not arrive with NEMA power cord, but did have 90W power supply. Not a huge issue. However, docking station did not power on with either provided 90W or my 7220's power supply. Will not charge batteries in cradle or the tablet. Appears to be a back power connection on the docking station. Docking station was immaculate though- appearance was as good as new. Too bad it's DOA.

Battery charging is lacking
The docking station works as expected. Two slots for the batteries to charge while the device is connected. I find it odd that you can not charge the batteries in the tablet while it’s connected to the docking station. That said the device connects to does what is expected.

Works, good quality, but read the rest
I bought this from the Dell website, but Dell makes it impossible to write a review, so here I am on Amazon. I hope this will help others when deciding to purchase this item, or not. Pros: It's a well made docking station, feels solid, I suppose 3 USB ports are ok (For sure 2 USB 3.0, the front one may just be USB 2.0), weighted enough so that it does not move, and allows your tablet to be used like a desktop. Makes charging the tablet's batteries easy, and without wearing out the charging port on the tablet itself. Cons: Only has 2 monitor outputs (1 VGA & 1 Display Port). VGA is a bit dated, I wished Dell had just put 2 display ports, or an HDMI. The one thing that really annoyed me about this docking station is that the description says, "Easily charge up to 2 spare batteries while connected at your desk". Well, this is misleading, because while you can insert 2 batteries, it only charges them one at a time. The only way to charge 2 batteries at once is to have one in the docking station, and the other in the tablet while it's docked. So if you're buying this docking station for the purpose being able to charge 2 batteries simultaneously (like I did), you'll be disappointed.
