I am a English major, and reading through this book it is a great way to learn about the different types of essays which are presented in this book.

Useful but not enough

I truly want a refund on this book. Complete waste of money and not relevant to 2018 and beyond Wharton essay prompts. I should have taken a closer look.

The new questions in 2018 are so different that it almost doesn’t matter but those are good essays for inspiration.

Several grueling months later, I finally received my admit this week to the Wharton Lauder program. Having essays from successful applicants as a point of reference was extremely helpful, especially in framing my thoughts, approach and positioning. Although the essay topics vary from year to year, the content helps candidates understand what information about one's profile should be focused on. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of Lauder content in the book, something I did not expect at the time of purchase - definitely a must-have for any aspiring Lauder applicants as those 1,000 word essays can be quite daunting!

This compilation of successful essays is a truly representative sample of Wharton's admitted students. It provides insight into a diverse group of perspectives on both Wharton's standard admissions essays and the longer Lauder Institute essays. As a current Wharton student whose writing and the writing of my classmates is featured here, Bredesen Lewis' insightful commentary for each essay type is right on the money, helping you to position your own unique story for success. I would have loved a book like this with a wide selection of examples all in one place when I was applying to Wharton to have an idea about where the bar was set and how to increase my chances of reaching it.Wharton and other business school applicants alike will find this book extremely helpful while writing their application essays, given the similarity among each school's essays and applicant pools. With application season coming up, it should be one of your main resources as you start planning your high-stakes business school application essays.

I like this book for two reasons. 1, it has tons of essays on multiple different topics, so if you are looking for ideas for your own essay, or just want to get a taste for the broad experiences that business school students have, this book will help you get there. 2, the essays seem to be a realistic sample. In other essay books, the essays are often overly polished, revised, and edited to the point in which they become inspirational works of art (and therefore a bit unrealistic, making the application process seem even more daunting then it already is!).This book is a no-brainer for Wharton and all other top business school applicants.

It is a fairly good book if you want to know what Business Schools are looking for
