Going Wild: A Thrilling Superhero Adventure with Cheetah Speed and Elephant Strength for Kids (Ages 8-12)

Description

Spider-Man meets Animorphs in this thrilling middle grade series from Lisa McMann, New York Times bestselling author of the Unwanteds series. Katherine Applegate—Newbery Medal winning author of The One and Only Ivan, Wishtree, and Endling—calls this book “gripping, action-packed, and filled with humor and heart.” Charlie Wilde knew her life would change forever when her family moved from the city of Chicago to the suburbs of Arizona…and that was before she found the bracelet. After putting it on, she notices odd things start to happen. Suddenly Charlie seems to have the speed of a cheetah and the strength of an elephant—and that’s just the beginning. She would be thrilled about her transformation if she had any idea how to use the device or control her amazing powers. So Charlie is forced to put her trust in new friends to help her uncover the surprising truth behind the mysterious bracelet. The Going Wild series is perfect for fans of Rick Riordan, Brandon Mull, and Ridley Pearson looking for a new twist on their middle grade adventures. It blends science fiction with the animal kingdom, highlighting some of the incredible feats that animals can achieve, which might seem possible only in comic books but are actually completely true. Don't miss Going Wild #2: Predator vs. Prey and Going Wild #3: Clash of Beasts! Charlie thought moving was the biggest challenge she’d face. She was wrong. A Reluctant Hero: Charlie Wilde didn’t ask for superpowers. She just wanted to make the soccer team and survive being the new kid in school. Secret Powers: A mysterious bracelet grants her the speed of a cheetah and the strength of an elephant, but she has no idea how to control it. An Unlikely Friendship: To figure out the truth, she’ll have to trust her new friends, Maria and Mac, who are the only ones who know her secret. Fast-Paced Action: Called "gripping and action-packed" by a Newbery Medal-winning author, this adventure blends science fiction with amazing animal facts. Review: Ten year old avid reader loved it - I did not personally read this, but my ten year old got it for his tenth birthday. He flew through it and loved it. He ended up getting his first 100/A on a book review after struggling to write book reviews. He very much enjoyed it. For reference, he is a big fan of all of Rick Riordan's work. Review: An Awesome Book! - An awesome book! Started off a little slow, but within the first few chapters, the action got exciting! This book is really great and I recommend it to people of all ages, especially people who like superpowers and a mix of superpowers.
