Kalamazoo Industries 2FSM 2" X 48" Abrasive Belt Sander W/ Motor

WOW, great machine. I read a lot of reviews on many similar type belt sanders and I am glad I went with this one. Some of the reviews I read talked about what motor came on the machine. Mine came with a Baldor motor and was Very Pleased when I saw that. Machine was packaged very well and was delivered very promptly. Only thing that would have been nicer would have been if they could have put notches on the machine and the working platform which if to much pressure is applied it causes the working platform to drop from what ever degree you have it set at. As far as tracking. This is the first belt sander I have that tracks great with no constant fiddling or adjusting. And for the size of the motor and belt the machine runs along quieter than I expected. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

If you want something that works well, they make a good good belt sander. Easy to setup and use.

Machine has plenty of power and I love the motor. I nee d to spend some time working with the machine to see if I can move the platten. The problem I am having is that the belt doesn't ride far enough to the edge of the platten without adjusting it quite a way to one side of the tension/adjustment wheel. I may be a little too picky and will probably work this one out. The other issue has to do with dust collection. It seems to me if they had enclosed the bottom of the belt guard and put a dust port in the housing, so you could hook up a vacuum hose it would awesome. I made my own dust catcher using a small plastic container placed under the bottom pulley. I drilled a hole in the side of the container and placed a 1-1/4" fitting in the hole to which I attached a hose from my shop-vac. This works out fairly well. Overall, a good sturdy machine.

I bought this sander strictly for knife making. It is working out great plenty of power,easy belt changes and the tracking works great. if you want a great sander for knife making go with this one.

The motor developed a wobble and the wheel that the belt goes on keeps coming off.

Price is reasonable, not a big enough motor for 2 in belt.

The MOTOR and the DRIVE WHEEL are Solid and of Good Quality, BUT . . . The platen gets out of alignment too easily. The housing guard and door do not align properly and the door access wing-nut is a joke. The knobs are substandard and awkward to use and the unit is difficult to setup and maintain the setup. The belt change handle pivot point is attached to the sanding belt housing and broke off after approximately 100 usages. All in All, I am VERY DISAPPOINTED except for the Motor & Drive Wheel. The design is effective but serioulsy compromised due to the LACK of quality materials used. IMPROVEMENTS NEED TO BE MADE!!!

Pricey, but works great. A true commercial quality tool.
