Does the job
Creamy and very quickly absorbed by the skin. Keeps underarm area smelling clean until the next shower.

“Smells like poo”
This is an update to my previous review which I am leaving here to show how awfully my experience progressed. I had to stop using it. I hate to waste products, but this one had to go in the trash. The longevity got even worse as time went on and something strange started to happen. I wasn’t a fan of the smell in the first place, but I read from the company on a Facebook ad that the smell is supposed to be very mild and fade away leaving you unscented. Well...it didn’t do that with me...after I would apply it’s like this product would react with my body chemistry and intensify this foul play dough/funky butt smell. This isn’t at all what my body odor smells like at all by the way. I saw someone else in the Facebook ad mention that it made her smell stinky. Well, I continue using the deodorant because it isn’t always that bad and again, I hate wasting stuff. I work in child care and one day the 3YO kept saying he smelled something stinky like poo and he didn’t like it and left the room. Then later he was sitting in my lap and said “you smell like poo!!!” And ran away. I had him smell my breath and clothes and he was like “no that’s not the smell”. I didn’t think to have him smell underarm at the time, but thought of it when I got home because the deodorant was gross that day. After being embarrassed by a 3YO I buy something else and start using - complete 180 in effectiveness and smell. The next time I see the kid he says “you don’t smell like poo today, you smell like yummy sugar”. So if you don’t want to be told be a child that you smell like poo don’t buy this deodorant cuz it’s not worth the price if your body chemistry doesn’t mix with it well. (Previous)This may be a premature review, but I have to get my thoughts of how it is now out there. I have used this deodorant 3 days now. I plan on letting the bottle run it’s course and will update this review if anything changes. For starters, I am not happy with this product. After reviewing ingredients and seeing things other natural deodorants don’t have I was very optimistic. I have been using natural deodorant for almost 2 years, so I am past the “detox stage”. I have tried a variety of native, variety of Schmidt’s, love beauty planet, crystal, and another brand I can’t remember the name of. I guess I will start with the good before I get to the bad: It does surprisingly control my sweat more than other deodorants. I still obviously get sweaty, but I don’t feel much wetness on my underarm area. I also like that it doesn’t make my underarms feel goopy like some other brands have. Now for the bad: •I got the coconut scent, which you can hardly smell. I don’t mind that too much bc I don’t like over fragranced products. The underlying smell makes the product kind of smell like play dough though. •This product irritates my underarm mildly. I’m lucky and most deodorants do not bother my underarm but this one does •I have the kind that is supposed to be a deodorant stick, which isn’t really a stick at all. I dial up the tiniest amount and apply. When I wipe the product of the “stick” it always presses more out which is annoying because I end up with too much. It also makes a mess on the lid •Here’s the big one:longevity....I showered this morning, applied lume, went about the rest of my routine and went to work. I started to notice some stinky smell coming through as early as 10:30am...which is only about 3 hours from the time of applying. By the end of the day I am pretty funky. Even if I wipe my underarms down with a paper towel when I notice they’re moist. I will say they aren’t as bad as they can be after other deodorants, but I really expected a stellar product here and this one is mediocre. •Value: not worth $16

Stops Odor but It Cakes and Flakes
I primarily purchased this to use under my boobs. I’d love to use this as my primary deodorant for under arms, but it does not provide antiperspirant protection. Being in menopause with constant hot flashes, I need sweat protection in order to feel confident throughout the day. So I just apply a thin layer under my clinical strength deodorant, which already worked to control any odor or sweat under my arms. All in all, Lume works to prevent odor as advertised. Like I said, I have bad hot flashes so it’s constantly sweaty under my boobs. Within a few hours after showering, there is an odor. Not cute! It really bothers me, so I’m constantly cleaning under them even just relaxing in the house because of my hot flashes. I’ve even thought about putting my clinical strength deodorant under there, but it’s bad enough using it under my arms with the aluminum. Any way, I have to say that this Lume deodorant works as advertised. Even after a full day in the theme parks here in the humid Central Florida heat, there’s no odor under there!!! I also put it on my feet and there’s no odor! I don’t even wear socks with my sneakers. I’m assuming that it’s working under my arms, but I apply it under my clinical strength deodorant/antiperspirant which already worked. I’ve also used it on my feet and private parts, and it blocked any odor in those areas. But… I only gave it four out of five stars because it creates a filmy layer that crumbles off like “removing dead skin.” My takeaway is that this is not a product that I’d want to put on my privates as a woman. The crumbling mess down there when I wipe is not cute. Rather than a cream, a spray would probably be great for that area. It cakes and flakes on other parts of my body too, but I just wipe it off and keep it moving. It doesn’t change the effectiveness of the odor protection. I took away a star since this is advertised as a deodorant for use on private parts, and I can’t use it there. Other than this negative, it does work to prevent odor. It does last all day and into the next day until I shower again. No odor!

Okay, guys. I’ve been stinky, dirty, and sweaty in the Deep South. And I’m amazed.
Okay - I’ve been using prescription strength deodorant (just a brand you can buy off the store shelf) and it recently started giving me a rash and a really odd, metallic (almost?) smell. I’ve had my eye on deodorants that don’t contain aluminum for a while and I’ve tried a few and was extremely underwhelmed. I decided this time I’d try Lume after a coworker told me how much she liked it. I’m amazed. Astonished. Flummoxed! Let’s start with the scent; I got the coconut one. I was a little concerned that it would smell like suntan lotion, but it doesn’t. The coconut smell is very subtle. There’s something I don’t love about the scent of the deodorant when it’s just in the applicator. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s almost chalky. However, when you put it on, it absolutely smells neutral and just very lightly coconutty. Any scent at all fades quickly, leaving you with neutral smelling under arms. They just don’t smell like anything. It’s…wild. I’ve been wearing this deodorant for about a week now. My rash is gone. There’s no odd smell like with my old deodorant (see above). I have put it to the stank test in the best ways: chasing a 2.5 year old all over the back yard, watering my garden, and general being out and about daily. And here it is, the piece de resistance: in 100 degree heat and in an extreme heat advisory, I got the sudden urge to wash and detail my car. For four hours, I labored and sweat in the sun, heat, and humidity. No stank. Not a trace! I know that, without aluminum, this deodorant might not help those of you who are heavy sweaters with your pit stains. I’m not a particularly heavy sweater on an average day, so this isn’t really a concern for me. Sorry I can’t speak for that. If you’re thinking of trying this deodorant, do it. I will never go back to other brands.

Okay is all.
Lume Coconut Scent-- Disclaimer: I am an adult male and ordered Lume instead of their packaged for men version under another name. I ordered the Lume branded product because the men's version did not offer a coconut scent. However, the literature states that Lume works equally well on men, so I ordered. Somewhat confusing message and perhaps now that Lume is owned by Harry's they will unify their labeling and clarify their communication. The product is new to me--just a few days of use. Perhaps I will learn more and have better success as I go along with using it. Right now, my early take is that this is an okay and decent product, but not worth the price for the so-so results. --The promise that it worked well against odor. It does work on odor better than most of the deodorants I have used, but it is only somewhat effective against big perspiration odor. Disappointing. --Looked like I was ordering a solid and expectant deodorant stick. Yea! What came instead is a cream that pushes up through three slots. Should have been made clear that this was a cream. Maybe I didn't read closely enough. I am not used to a cream and this is quite a change for me (old dogs, new tricks and all that). We will see how it goes. --Smell. I live in a beach town and really like the bright and distinctive scent of coconut. I figured this would be a robust scent that stood out boldly. In reality, the scent is quite muted and only barely approaches the smell of coconut. --Price. This stuff is really expensive--about three times shelf deodorant. However, I figured, what the heck. If it works as advertised, I was willing to take a chance and pony up. Overall, I am underwhelmed. The pricey (and small) packaging isn't adding up to repeat orders from me.
