The rain chain is very attractive and made of sturdy quality metal.While it does not work as well as a down spout, it does collect the water very nicely but there are splashes.I added the chain to a back wall at my back porch and it's very nice to sit outside and watch the rain spill down the rain chain.

This rain chain is so cute, matches our design so well... it was stolen within the first week and we had to replace it.Seriously though, it's made well and will hopefully last a little longer this time.We bought this to be a unique feature for our home sale. We won't hesitate to buy more when we purchase our next home.

The opening for the gutter needs to be smaller then the square of the rain chain to funnel the water properly down the chain. I used a white PVC reducer for plastic water tubing from Home Depot inside the metal gutter. It stopped the splash over the last review describes. It's very nice looking when its shiny and new. However, it is jet black and at first there is a lot of spotting from the drying water... like a mineral depositing on the finish. After the first rain I thought I had made a terrible choice picking black because the spotting looked terrible to me. Once the shiny finish came off the chain in a few weeks the spotting stopped and the shiny black finish has mellowed to a flat dark charcoal grey. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'm guessing the finish will lighten a bit more over the years.... good quality, good choice.

I like these alot, however the way you hook them to the gutterleaves something to be desired.

Awesome addition. We replaced a downspout on our deck with one of these, running it into a decorative pot full of rock, and a 2-inch thru fitting on the bottom for directing water out the side onto a concrete rain splashblock. It hasn't rained yet, but a quick test with the garden hose revealed how well it works. It's pretty relaxing watching the water pour down too!

These chains look great and are easy to install. I do recommend the you measure the height of where you will be putting them. I had to order an extra chain to make mine longer, which was also easy to do.

These look great -- No doubt about that. However, the cylinder size is quite small and it even light rains result is a LOT of splashing. There are definitely places where this chain could work well, but we have 3 of these chains installed right next to a sidewalk bordering the house, and both the sidewalk and house get wet.Aesthetically it looks perfect with my house, but we need to get a tapered cup style for function.
