Red Tree Supply Pen Blank Pack: Bocote, Curly Maple, Leopardwood, Purple Heart, Walnut (5 pack)

I normally purchase blanks from other sources however I needed them quick for an order and these were 2 day with Prime. All the blanks were in good condition and usable with no defects in them. I think what I liked the most was a little card that showed what each species of blank was. It's a nice touch that I have missed with other blank suppliers. When you are working on a number of blanks, especially ones that look very similar, it's nice to have an easy reference. I was even able to include the card with the order to my customer so they knew which was which.

The leapard wood blanks were completely junk. No figure whatsoever and after turning the "curly maple" looks as if it came from a pine 2x4. Purple heart walnut and bacote all look amazing however which kept this from bieng a 1 star review. Look elsewhere if you are looking for quality exotic blanks. The picture shows phenomenal curly maple as well as leopardwood examples but both species received were complete junk. Not even worth putting the cost of a pen kit into.

One piece was short by a 1/4” won’t work for my project. And the store is empty

Cheap wood to start but after 1 or 2 purchases you will want to get into fancy wood. These are great for beginners as they are in expensive and easy to turn plus they give you a variety of densities to learn the differences in material as you turn.

Really fond of this variety pack. The Juniper didn't really look like the picture and looked more like red cedar, so it's possible they made a mistake. The wood wasn't labeled. Other than that, no complaints; beautiful, healthy woods, easy to work with, even for a beginner like me. I highly recommend the Bocote if you like darker wood.

Nice wood, but it is not square. I guess if you're using it for a pen blank that doesn't matter.each piece is a different size

Disappointed there wasn't any label in the box telling what wood was the company did put on my on my order a picture of what each piece was and that helped hopefully they will fix in the future but I did like the finished product made from the curly maple and the bocote

Blanks were smaller than I thought but that was my own fault for not paying attention to listing. Blanks are top notch.
