Holds my chair well
I bought this to keep my chair from slowly sinking throughout the day. It does the job pretty well and was easy to install. I would recommend if you have a similar issue with your chair sinking.

Works great, if it fits
I installed this clamp on my magnificent used 20 year old Steelcase Citation desk chair. Unfortunately, the clamp was not quite big enough to fit the shaft on the Citation gas cylinder, which is 1.25". Making it fit took all afternoon and a trip to the hardware store, but the end result is excellent. After fussing for an eternity trying to to do the impossible with supplied cap screws that were just a hair too short. In the struggle, I stripped the threads on one side of the clamp. Doing what I should have done an hour earlier, I retreated to Ace Hardware and bought longer screws, flat washers, and hex nuts. I had to drill out the stripped threaded holes in the clamp, put in the longer cap screws with washers and hex nuts, slipped the clamp to the right place on the shaft and tightened it down. Tight. My chair is now at perfect height and no longer sinks. You may ask why I gave a device that was difficult to make work a 5 star review. It deserves 5 stars because it would have been quick and easy if the gas cylinder shaft had been the size the clamp was intended for. The design and quality was good. If it had not been, my fix would have been impossible. If you know your way around things and tools, the product is great. If the clamp fits out of the bag, you should have no trouble even if you are not a tools and things person. If the product were a piece of crap, like so many are, I would not be sitting comfortably typing this review.

Not worth it.
You’d be better off buying a new hydraulic canister or chair than this thing. It worked for a week then started sinking again. The rubber inside was quickly cut through and despite tightening it as much as I could the chair would continue to sink. If you want a method that works go with the PVC pipe. Way easier, cheaper and actually stays up.

It fixed my chair!
I had read the on-line reviews before ordering the chair sinking stops and noted that they said there was no instruction paper included. When the product came I went back on line and found detailed instructions in some of the reviews. It took about 5 minutes to install one of the stops on my chair using the "wrench" included. I raised the chair to the height I needed and put the stop on as instructed in the review. It held my weight and did not sink. I've used the chair multiple times a day for several months with no problems. With the 2-pack, I have a spare in case other office chairs here develop the same problem.

No instructions-But I’ll give them to you-1st Day: Working So Far
I took a star off due to no instructions.Just installed this. It was very easy to install. Seems sturdy. Will update if I have problems with this. I wanted my chair at its highest point so it was even easier for me to install (didn’t need to mark anything). This is on sale right now for under $7, by the way. Not sure it’s worth its full price but maybe it’s always on sale.I’ve copied and edited the instructions below that another reviewer had posted because it helped me. Also see the images on the product page in the details from the manufacturer. These will also help.Instructions: Start by adjusting the chair to the ideal height & mark this place with a permanent marker. Install blue rubber gaskets to the metal plates in the middle of the plates where it will be gripping the pole your seat sits on. Then fit the 2 plates around the pole at the lowest point on the pole that the chair sits on, and start screwing both sides in, with the provided screws. Use a hexagonal wrench (one is provided) to twist the screws vigorously until they are as tight as possible, try to sit and fine-tune it (I didn’t feel the need to do this because I wanted it as high as it goes). It takes about 5 minutes but once done your chair will no longer drop down. The screws only grab onto one side so if they aren’t grabbing, put them in the holes in the opposite direction.I’m not sure why the red gasket is here and that there is only one but in the pics provided by the manufacturer has one installed on one side so that is what I did. I have no idea what its purpose is but I figured, why not.By the way, the clamps bend around the chair pole as you tighten the bolts so even if it seems like your pole may be too thick to secure it properly, when you tighten it, it will fully grip, from my experience at least.

works
My office chair developed a problem where I would be sitting it in, and suddenly start sinking. Lots of fun on video calls, I would just sink down off the screen, followed by that slightly awkward jump to try to get the seat back up to where I wanted it. Was starting to be a weekly thing, and I was sure I was not hitting the release. So in an effort to extend the useful life of my chair, I got this. Laid the chair on the side, and took under 5 minutes to install. It is just a thing that grips the tube that holds up the chair to prevent it from going down. Since I wanted my chair at the "top height" it was easy to put in that position and install, but if you preferred a lower height, it should work wherever you set it.The only thing to realize is that once installed you can no longer adjust the height of your seat (perhaps, if you adjust it lower, you could still make it go up and it would only go down a bit). The seat still spins around find, reclines, does everything it is supposed to do, just no longer falls down on its own.

Fitting will cut through rubber and make it less effective
While its easy to put together and works OK, the fitting will cut through the rubber over time and reducing its effectiveness, especially if you overtighten it.

Works perfectly!
This is the answer to those stupid cylinders. I'm a big guy and weigh well over 250 so those chair cylinders rarely last much more than a year. I usually have my chair set at the same height forever so this little gadget does the trick. The seat has not sunk a mm so far and it feels like a good quality product with fairly heavy duty metal and fasteners. Getting a few more for the other chairs. Note: make sure you clean the piston properly with alcohol before attaching the clamp as there probably is oily residue from the seal leaking.

Missing the Allen Key... But Works As Advertised
Mine did not come with the allen wrench... but it's a standard size and most people probably have one kicking around. Easy to install, seems to be working fine. I'm not sure it would stand up if you were 100 pounds over the weight limit of your lift, but as an assist, it appears to do the job. Price is right.
