Can I fit my hand in the carafe for cleaning?

I have a brush as mentioned by other responders to the question.  I find one of the most effective cleaning methods is to put dishwashing liquid in about 1/4 of the pot, add a dishwashing cloth.  Put the solid lid on the pot and swirl it around to clean the interior.

What's the difference between the KBT and the KBGT?

Have the KBGT for now. Also ordered a replacement KBT (non auto switch). The KBT was DOA (appears to have had a failed repair made -- additional repair order appearing sticker on the bottom). The KBT we received had a more obviously tapered double wall stainless carafe (as seen in some pictures of the various models).  The KGBT has the thermos glass type. We are not fans of the KBGT. It will be replaced. Not mentioned is the little plastic plate under the carafe. Under engineered attachment point if you have to move your coffee maker (falls off easily). The plate is used to space the carafe high enough to activate the switch (~2-3mm). The answer would have been easier to have an attachment on the carafe to make it taller (or, lowered the automatic arm that 2-3mm).  If you can fill yours where it sits you will not care about the plate (it will not go anywhere if left stationary). Also, the arm the filter cup slides into is spring loaded. Makes it seem frail and cheap -- that's a one week user observation, not a time based use evaluation. 5 year warranty, so shouldn't be an issue. We run a full pot, and have the patience to wait for it to fill so the automatic shut off valve is of no issue for us. We have glass thermal carafes we transfer our coffee into so the next person can make their own (leaded vs unleaded).  So, big hitter: switch/plate stationary vs manual switch and no plate and easily movable.

Does this model have the brew thru lid in addition to the standard travel lid closure?

No Idea what brew thru lid means. I have two of these and they are best coffee makers on the market.

I want to make sure this item is the KBGT 741, but the model number is not listed here.

It is the KBGT 741.  It is a wonderful machine.  Cooks magazine just came out with a wonderful review of this machine and I totally agree with it.  I am a coffee nut and it does make great coffee.
