Economical and versatile
This product is very expensive as name brand and sold by the ounce. I purchased some small empty containers and used an alcohol cleaned butter knife to fill them with individual sized containers. This is great for bedtime on lips and any dry area. It also removes any and all makeup. This is one of my most economical purchases of the year.

Better priced and better product in my opinion
So I bought this as an alternative for the obvious - aquaphor and it works great at literally less than half the price! It has the same consistency, ingredients and texture. And I feel like this absorbs almost a little quicker than aquaphor.

A Solid, Value-Packed Alternative to Aquaphor
I've used this ointment on my hands, elbows, and lips through some dry winter weather. It creates a solid protective barrier that lasts through hand washing and daily activities. While it doesn't feel quite as heavy-duty as Aquaphor upon application, it still effectively soothes dry skin and prevents moisture loss. I found it particularly good for daytime use when I want protection without the heavy, greasy feel. Compared to Aquaphor, the Amazon version is slightly less thick and spreads more easily. While Aquaphor might have a slight edge for extremely dry, cracked areas that need maximum protection, the Basics ointment handles 90% of what most people need from a protective ointment. If you're budget-conscious or go through a lot of healing ointment, this is absolutely worth trying. The minor difference in thickness is easily outweighed by the significant savings. It's perfect for everyday dry skin maintenance, lip protection, and general first-aid needs. I'll continue using it as my primary ointment for most situations. TLDR: Pros: · Excellent value - it truly is about half the price of brand-name alternatives · Performs the core function of protecting and moisturizing dry skin very well · Sinks into the skin a bit faster than thicker ointments · Works great on dry patches, cuticles, and minor rough spots · The large tube is convenient and lasts a long time Cons: · Not quite as thick or viscous as Aquaphor · The texture feels slightly less rich upon application

Love it. Comparable to Aquaphor.
First day using it and I already love it. Slightly thinner consistency than the aquaphor, but still really good and moisturizing. Love it!

Important part of my skin care regimen!
Just as good as the name brand stuff! Keeps my aging/thinning skin barrier healthy and happy. I also use this overnight on my face, as a protective barrier to actives (Retinoid, Vit C, etc) - I never wake up all dried out anymore.

It seems to work as well as a more expensive product.
This feels like the more expensive product and seems to moisturize just as well.

A bit like Vaseline
We bought in replace of a much pricier healing ointment, this one has the same exact ingredients for about half the price. But, it is a bit more oily and leaves spots on clothes. My son also noticed the texture difference and said it was more like Vaseline. Good product overall, just not the best for what we need it for.
