How do I tighten these screws without the post spinning?

The open-slotted post lets you insert a flathead screwdriver to hold it steady while you tighten the Phillips truss head - giving you a firm, secure connection.

Why does the slotted post design create a more secure connection?

Holding the post stationary as you drive the screw head lets you apply more torque than with non-slotted posts, resulting in a tighter fit that resists backing out.

What tools do I need to install these Chicago screws?

You need a Phillips screwdriver for the truss head and a flathead screwdriver for the slotted post. No specialty tools required - just standard hand tools.
