For years I've had my Garmins plugged into a "cigarette" style outlet on my motorcycle. Due to the location of the outlet I had about 4' of wire bundled on my handlebars. Vibrations would cause it to occasionally come loose, and once during a rainstorm the gps quit working because of water collecting inside the outlet. When I saw this was working for some folks on their car-style gps units I figured I'd give it a try.It arrived quickly and had about 5' of wire, which was perfect for my installation. I tested it before mounting and it works great. After wiring it to a switched accessory wire it now comes on when I start the bike up, and goes off when I turn the bike off. Garmin 50LM.The wires are decent gauge with the ends coming already tinned. The majority of the wiring is covered in a wrapping that looks great, protects the wire and looks nice. It also comes fused. The output reads "5 volt/500ma".

This cable along with an "add a circuit" is perfect for wiring in a Garmin GPS. It free's up the 12v plug in your dashboard and gets rid of another object getting tangled up in the car.My 12v plug is directly by my shifter (manual trans), and I kept catching the cord to my GPS with a finger. It was a little bit annoying. Upon some research, I purchased this cord, an "Arkon" mount for the GPS, and an "add a circuit." I was able to remove some of the dashboard panels in my car and run this wire behind the dashboard, it only too about an hour. I also attached the arkon mount to an interior panel. The wire is hidden in a drawer when not in use and can be pulled out when I need it. For a cleanly mounted GPS, this is the way to go!Personally, I prefer having my GPS separate from my radio. I have a 2010 VW CC. The radio is just the touch screen radio, no NAV. My dad has a 2012 Golf that has the NAV in the radio. It is nice having the two separately designated devices, plus I can take my GPS other places. With a little bit of thinking, you can cleanly mount your GPS using this cable!

Works as it should. I would have liked to know the length of the wire prior to purchasing. I would prefer it to be longer. I was able to splice more wire onto this to complete my install.

My husband installed this in my old Subaru Forester 7 years ago. We recently had to retire that vehicle at 160,000 miles with a blown engine but the GPS charger was still working! No problems with it in 7 years. Yes, the traffic feature on the GPS does not work but luckily that was no problem for me. I just placed an order for another cable for my new Subaru.

I bought myself a new Garmin GPS for my 2009 Ford Ranger FX4. I don’t like the look of wires hanging around all over the place do I decided to hard wire it in using this Garmin cable. I have heard bad things about using the aftermarket kits like the unit powering on and off so I decided to play it safe and order a Garmin kit. I have no complaints - a clean install and a product that works every time. The little box that is only about 3-4 inches away from the connector that plugs into the back of the GPS is difficult to conceal. They should’ve put it farther back. That is my one and only complaint.

This is a well made cable and the Dash Cam functions properly with this cable but I had to give it three stars because it's too short for installation in a full size pickup. I had to splice in about 2 feet of wire to reach the fuse box. I researched the Garmin site for an exact length on this cable but didn't find it on their site. After reading Amazon reviews I thought the cable might be too short but the fact that the filter is close to the device was a selling point for me so I ordered this cable. Since it's well constructed I would probably order it again and deal with the splicing issue if the need for another cable arose.

Hola, el cable ha llegado con mucha rapidez. Dos días y en casa. Sobre el cable decir que es el segundo que compro ya que el primero que instale no me ha durado ni un año. Lo tengo montado en una moto de enduro y lo utilizo para navegación en montaña. Esta claro que se lleva golpes, barro, agua y algúna pedrada que otra. El tema es que ha dejado de cargar el gps creo que por que se a fastidiado el mini usb. Mientras ha funcionado ha ido de perlas. Ha durado una temporada de offroad. Veremos este que dura.

Once again Amazon has saved me money. Cheaper by $20 bucks over GPS City. And free ship it. The wire is great!
