The custom Plug cutting bit works with the custom pocket-hole Plug Cutter to create plugs that perfectly match your project. This specially designed bit chucks into any drill, and fits into the hardened-steel drill guide in the Plug Cutter to produce plugs in the correct diameter to fit standard-size Kreg Jig® pocket holes.

Very Good With a Fast Drill
Most tutorials and how-to videos I watched on pocket hole plug cutting say that faster drills and slower feed rates would result in cleaner cuts. They emphasise the importance of corded drills rather than battery powered ones. Therefore, I looked for the best drill I could find for the job. I discovered that corded drills are not necessarily faster than battery powered ones. However, the fastest drill I could find, the Bosch GBM 6 RE, is indeed, corded. The pic shows how my Kreg KPHJ 720 Pro Jig and KPC 1020 Custom Plug Cutter Bit combo cut plugs in spruce with this drill that spins at 4000 RPM.I am satisfied with this result. In fact, I believe that my plugs turn out to be cleaner than most ones I have watched on how to videos which are filmed using slower drills. I infer that the Kreg KPC 1020 Custom Plug Cutting Bit is capable of cutting very clean plugs with a very fast drill and a very slow feed rate.At first, I was a bit concerned that such a high RPM and so slow feed rate would overheat the bit. As a precaution, I use Teflon based dry lubricant spray on the bit to reduce friction and I never use it without attaching my shop-vac to help reduce heat build-up. These seem to work. When I check with my finger, the bit does not get too hot to the touch, even after prolonged use. I cut about 250 plugs so far and the bit works like it did the first day but I have no idea on when it will get dull. I keep a spare at hand, just in case. All in all, I am happy with the quality of the plugs I cut but I wonder if I would be so happy if I was using a drill that spins at about half the RPM of my Bosch GBM 6 RE corded drill.

Caution: Need special plug-cutting jig also!
Just purchased this, not realizing a special jig is also required. This jig is sold only as a set (bit and jig), so DO NOT purchase the bit alone (as I did) unless you already have the jig. Other bits (for XL and smaller plugs) are sold separately, and all three fit in the one jig.

Don’t recommend
I tried 4 different pieces of wood and could not get one plug that looked good and didn’t mangle up. They are usable but your gonna be using more glue and sawdust to fill them in.

No good without separate Kreg cutter jig
You also need to buy a Kreg pocket hole cutter jig! So useless & way overpriced!

Like it except for sharpness
Nice cutter but sharpness wasn't the best out of the packaging - hence removing 1 star. Just note that you WILL NEED the cutter template sold pretty much only in a set with one cutter already. So pretty much this is a cutter replacement not a standalone.
