I took a flyer on a gallon of this concentrate, and I'm very happy with its performance compared to the brand-name liquid when used with my Bissell rug vac. Cleans well, dries quickly, slight scent dissipates rapidly.

After googling top carpet shampoo I came across this Zep cleaner and man am I so glad that I chose this one. My target stain was sticky blue candy, and let me tell you that sticky blue candy is not the only thing that this stuff brought up. I was shocked at how much dirt was still sitting in my carpet after shampooing that exact spot just a few months ago. I used it in my little green clean machine by Bissell because I figured it was the perfect time to do a test spot. It didn't leave my carpet feeling weird and it smells way better than my previous cleaner. Aside from functionality it is WAY cheaper than the previous cleaner I had gotten and I don't understand how. I love that this can be used in both of my machines which are different brands. I am definitely switching to this for all my carpet cleaning needs.

First time trying this product, it did a great job getting up those hard stain. Having grandkids over and they spill thing often, this works great. My carpet looks awesome.

We redecorated our living room, but didn't want to replace the over 25 year old carpeting if we didn't have to. Although the carpeting is old, it's in a room that doesn't get much traffic, so it wasn't showing any wear. The last time it was totally cleaned was about 15 years ago. Since we had dogs and cats, some spot cleaning was done, but not the entire carpet. Since my husband and I were both smokers, the color of the carpet had changed to yellow-brown in some areas which was also contributed to by age of the carpet. I have a Bissell Big Green Cleaning Machine and started this project using various spot removers and a couple Bissell carpet shampoos. Due to the size of the room and that the couches are in the room, I had to tackle half the room at a time. After the spot removers, and cleaning and rinsing 3 times with the Bissell shampoos, I still wasn't happy with the results. There was still evidence of discoloration and staining. I looked for a better carpet shampoo and found this Zep carpet shampoo which I decided to try. Although this shampoo didn't completely eliminate all of the discoloration, it was a world of difference with only one pass. The directions on this shampoo instructs that only vacuuming is necessary after the carpet dries. I decided to do a rinse anyway. This cleaner creates an incredible amount of foam as indicate by the rinse water extracted from the carpet. I did 2 rinses and the rinse water still collected a lot of foam. I am very happy with the cleaning results of this shampoo, but would highly recommend going over the carpet a couple of times with only clean water to get some of the shampoo out of it. The directions recommend 5 ounces of the carpet cleaner per 1 gallon of water. My cleaner has about a 2 gallon container for the soap and water solution. So i used about 8 ounces. For the rest of this carpet I may try reducing the amount of carpet cleaner used to see if this reduces the amount of foam. At any rate, this carpet cleaner cleans much better than the Bissell carpet cleaners, and I would recommend it. There is still a little staining after one pass, but most of it is gone. So I will go over it a second time with Zep. UPDATE 12/01/22: Since this review, I also bought the Zep Premium Carpet Shampoo. and tried it on the next section of my carpet. This shampoo has much less foam than the All Purpose Carpet Shampoo. This shampoo is likely more for upholstery and other cleaning besides carpets. This shampoo is much too foamy to be used in a carpet cleaning machine. I also think the Premium Carpet Shampoo cleaned more of the staining on my carpet than this All Purpose version. I left the rating at 5-stars since this cleaner is probably more suited to cleaning projects other than carpet. Even considering the huge amount of foam, this cleaner worked better than any of the Bissell carpet shampoos I have. I hope this review was helpful for you.
