These Sony XM5s are constructed beautifully. I am not an audiophile, but I appreciate good sounds, and these deliver strongly. The basses in mid-range are deep and clear, and the treble gives a defined sound that is usually hard to pinpoint in other brands. Battery life is very good, quoted approximately 30 hours. Charge times are also very quick, with a quick charge function where you get around 10 hours for a 15-20 minute charge. The noise cancelling is active, and I took these on board a plane, full of people, long haul, and it cut out at least 70% of the noise. Granted, it doesn't cut out everything, but the drone from the engines and people talking were more or less subdued to a point where it was comfortable enabling peaceful rest and sleep. It's constructed well. The ear muffs give enough space so your ears are breathable, and the headband is comfortable enough so that you can wear it for long sessions without major discomfort. My head is average size, and I can wear these for hours each stretch without issues. The headphones come with a well made carrying case, great for travelling, and it's not too heavy. Pairing is very straightforward. You press the power button, and you keep the button depressed for approximately 5 seconds to be in Bluetooth mode. It connected to my Android phone very easily, and without any hiccups. You download the Sony app, and from there you can tweak the equaliser settings. I usually increase the bass to around plus 5, and I go max on the treble. With that set, the sound is amazing. The clarity is crisp, and the music sounds amazing. All in all, these headphones are superb value compared to others in the market just now. The active noise cancelling is perhaps the best offered by Sony. Do I recommend these headphones? 100% yes. Although I would advise waiting for special deals as these often come down in price, for example during Black Friday. Highly recommended.

Very impressed. Sound quality is high, comfortable to wear, ANC is impressive Damned shame that despite the cost I cannot unlock all the features without downloading an app and paying a subscription which feels a bit of a mickey taking exercise by Sony I love that the size, and dimensions are such that people can see them from 500 yards away giving me plausible deniability when I don’t want to stop and chat. Keeps unwanted obtrusive sounds out even without listening to music Excellent buy Battery charges super fast and is long lasting Autistic persons like me will appreciate the sound of silence as these keep a noisy obtrusive and irritating world out of my head and provide sanctuary from sensory processing disorder Controls easy to use and very accessible. After tweaking the EQ, the sound quality is amazing, I genuinely didn't know Bluetooth could sound good, let alone great. The connectivity is pretty good too, you can go pretty far in the high quality mode. Battery life is okay, though despite the setting being turned on, they don't turn off automatically to save power when plugged in via the headphone cable. Speaking of being plugged in via the headphone cable, you can use noise cancelling and ambience mode while listening via the cable but if you turn the headphones off to save battery, there is an extreme quality drop, meaning to get the most out of these you must have them turned on at all times. I bought these for mainly indoor use but the noise cancelling and ambient modes are really good. The build quality is okay at best, they're 100% plastic on the outside, I've had £20 headphones feel basically identical. The hinges are apparently very fragile and I'd recommend against getting black headphones as they show tons of smudges and marks, the blue ones seem to fair a bit better but the lighter colours are best at hiding them. Also, they swivel the wrong way..? They turn outward instead of inward which takes a very long time to get used to Update: Massive issue with the headphones, almost from the start they kept powering off with a pop sound and it only got more frequent, I tried everything I could, I reluctantly sent them off to Sony and they were completely replaced, day 1 of getting the new ones I had the same issue, usually it's a moisture issue but I exclusively used them in an air conditioned room at my desk, I even bought breathable earpads just in case and it still happened every day. I got a full refund and I put the money towards upgrading to the XM6's. I'm kinda sad because I really liked these headphones.

Had these for a while now and they’re easily the best headphones I’ve owned. The sound quality is great, the noise cancelling is seriously impressive, and they’re comfortable enough to wear for hours. Battery life is excellent too. They’re not cheap, but for me they’ve been worth every penny

I really wanted to love the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. I saw so many reviews about them and watched a lot of youtube videos saying they are the best headphones and the noise canceling is amazing so I decided to buy them. At first they honestly felt amazing. The sound quality is really really good, super clear and the bass is nice too. The noise canceling is also crazy good. When you put them on you almost cant hear anything around you which I loved. They also feel very comfortable and premium so at the beginning I was really happy with the purchase. But there is one problem that keeps happening and its honestly really frustrating. The headphones keep disconnecting from my phone while I am playing games. It just randomly disconnects in the middle of playing and the sound cuts out. Then I have to stop what im doing, go into the phone settings, open bluetooth and reconnect them again. This happens a lot and it completely ruins the experience when you are in the middle of a game. The weird thing is this is the only bluetooth device connected to my phone. I dont have other headphones or speakers connected. Its literally just these headphones. I tried to fix it for hours. I watched many youtube videos about people having similar problems and tried every fix they suggested. I reset the headphones, removed them from bluetooth and paired again, changed settings and tried different things people said might work. Nothing fixed it. Its just really dissapointing because these headphones are not cheap and I expected them to work properly. The sound and noise canceling are amazing but the constant disconnecting makes it really hard to enjoy using them. I was really excited when I bought them and I wanted them to be my favorite headphones but now its just frustrating. Ps. Im using iphone 17 pro max with newest ios other headphones work just fine

I’ve had these for a little over a month and they’re one of my favourite things I own. I upgraded from the Sony WH-CH720Ns and every time I put on a song on the xm5s, it genuinely feels like my ears are crying tears of joy. I’ve heard many horror stories about broken hinges so I’m trying my best to not stress them out. I recommend getting the Sound Connect app and playing around with the equaliser until you get a sound that suits your ears. I only lasted around 3 days of listening with clear bass on +10 before it gave me a headache so I’ll be sticking to +7.I chose black, since it goes with everything is does an amazing job of hiding any stains that may show up from daily use. So far, I’ve accidentally dropped them once on hard pavement because I wasn’t holding them tightly enough. The power button was scratched but at least now I’ll be able to tell the difference between the power and ANC toggle button. A win’s a win. I love the ANC and how it phases out the noise from bus engines/background chatter. Transparency is also great for when you want to stay alert. Overall, great pair of headphones for anyone who values sound quality and ANC. I was stuck between these and the ULT Wear but I ended up choosing the xm5s because of the design and amazing sound quality after trying them out in person at a store.

The fifth generation continues this trend, offering great noise reduction and high sound quality enclosed in a comfortable design. The design is the first of the noticeable changes, which also changed the case. The rest of the fixes make the latest model perform better than its predecessor. Cost? Higher compared to the XM4, so keep that in mind. The WH-1000XM5s are different from the previous model in the series and may look down-to-earth at first. Over time, I began to appreciate their minimalist design. They may not stand out from the crowd, but in my opinion they look very good. Adjusting the size is trivial and everything happens quickly. The whole is perfectly combined with each other and looks like a one-piece construction. Controlling the headphones is limited to a minimum, on the left side there is a power/pairing button, ANC/contact mode button and a standard headphone jack. The outer surface of the right earcup allows you to use gestures. Their operation is a mish-mash, once they come in from the arrow, and sometimes you have to repeat them, especially double-click to start or pause playback. The minimalist design is designed to improve the ANC, hence the dramatic change in appearance. The ear cups don't look impressive, but when you put the headphones on, they fit great and have good passive noise reduction. Sony headphones are not the lightest (they weigh 250g), but they are so comfortable that you can listen to music for hours. The biggest problem caused by the new appearance is the thought in the back of my mind that the adjustment system will break. It often crossed my mind, even when removing the headphones from the case. Sony packed all the features known from the previous generation, so when you change to a newer model you will feel at home. Speak to Chat pauses when it detects user speech. Thanks to this, you can carry on a conversation, and then return to listening to your favorite piece. There was also a sensor responsible for detecting the headphones, it was placed inside the left earcup. It works very well and pauses the music as soon as you remove the headphones, and resumes it shortly after putting them on. Spotify Tap can be useful if you use this app to listen to music. When you double or triple tap on the right earcup, the app will launch and start playing. Sony's active noise cancellation is one of the best. This time there was a slight change, because ANC works automatically based on the location of the headphone user. Most outside sounds are muffled, but you can still hear cars driving past the pavement, people, unless you're listening to music at the moment. Contact mode is also top shelf, has a 20-point scale and can be changed manually. The maximum level makes you hear everything as if you didn't have headphones. The sound coming from the outside is natural and does not undergo digital corrections. Fans from all over the world turn their noses up at the implementation of active noise cancellation, because it is automatic and you cannot set it yourself. It works based on the user's location and activity. You can even add additional places where noise reduction will be activated. The WH-1000XM5 never once had a problem recognizing my location and activity. If I went for a walk, it was visible in the dedicated application. ANC is the highest shelf, so in the case of listening it should be similar, and it is. All thanks to the new 30 mm drivers capable of creating a wider soundstage and extracting more details from each piece. The music genre doesn't matter much, because pieces with strong bass "play" great. The low tones are emphasized and each of the instruments used is easy to recognize. The vocals have also improved, they are cleaner and you can hear them well, even when the background music is louder than them. The default EQ settings are enough for most, but you can change them at any time after installing the dedicated application. The Sony WH-1000XM5 aren't reinventing the wheel, but they're great headphones. Improved a lot compared to the previous version, these fit great, they fit well in the ears, the ANC and sound quality have also been improved. The changes are not dramatic, but you can see that the bar is set high. I really like the new design and I don't feel like it lags behind because it doesn't fold like the XM4. I didn't have the previous model and I don't see a problem with it, although there will be complainers. The price is not the lowest, but you have to pay the same or more for competing models.

These headphones are seriously amazing when it comes to blocking out the world. I can barely hear a thing when I have them on, which is perfect for my commute or when I need to focus at work. The sound quality is top-notch too – music sounds rich and balanced, with just the right amount of bass. I also love how clear phone calls are. People on the other end say I sound great. My only gripe? They don't quite stay put when I'm working out. If Sony could improve the grip a bit, these would be the absolute perfect headphones. Overall: 4.8 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended (unless you're a marathon runner)!

Ce casque est pour moi un des meilleurs sur le marché des casques bluetooth. Je poste cet avis après plusieurs mois d'utilisation. L'appairage est simple et efficace, et du multipoint réellement efficace et très bien géré ! Il est très facilement possible de switcher entre les appareils connecté, il m'arrive très régulièrement de jongler mes 2 appareils qui y sont connectés simultanément, entre mon téléphone, mon ordinateur du travail, et mon ordinateur personnel. Concernant le son, il est excellent, un peu plus profond et moins percussif que sur du Bose je trouve. Les basses sont bien retransmise, et les aigues n'en sont pas dénaturé pour autant. Attention cependant, il me semble que les haut parleurs sont les mêmes que le XM4, et ce casque étant plus cher que le XM4, attention lors de votre choix. Sa plus value pour moi étant son confort par rapport au XM4. Au niveau des genres qui lui vont le mieux, je dirais la progressive house et tout ce qui est synthwave (chillwave, dreamwave, sexwave... Enfin avec wave dans le nom ^^). Car sur ces genres, les sons electro et les basses sont très bien retransmis je trouve. Autrement, il me va très bien pour d'autres genres que j'écoute également... Classique, Metal, Pop, Industrial, Rock, Dark Wave, Post-punk, New age, Cyberpunk, Electro gothic... Concernant le confort, c'est là où le XM5 prends le pas sur le XM4. Je trouve le XM5 bien plus confort que le XM4, il est plus large que le XM4 et englobe bien mieux les oreilles, et est de ce fait, bien plus confort sur du port longue durée. Concernant l'autonomie, elle est correcte, le casque me dure environ 3 jours avec une batterie pleine, avec une utilisation assez conséquente, 2h par jours dans les transports en commun, et plusieurs heures dans la journée durant le travail. Concernant le micro intégré, la par contre c'est une autre paire de manches... C'est catastrophique ! S'il n'y a pas de bruit autour de vous ça passe, mais si vous êtes au téléphone dans un environnement bruyant, ou même dans une cage d'escalier avec de l'écho, ça risque d'être compliqué pour votre interlocuteur de vous entendre correctement... Concernant la réduction de bruit, je dirais qu'elle est passable, sans être réellement exceptionnelle... Si vous êtes dans Paris typiquement vous allez quand même entendre tout le bruit ambiant, à moins de vous explosez les oreilles et de mettre votre musique à fond... Un peu plus personnel, je suis vraiment moyen fan du look... Et le revêtement adore les traces de doigts, alors méfiez vous... Pour conclure, un excellent casque, pas sans petit défauts néanmoins, mais qui reste une valeur sûre pour ceux qui aiment écouter leur musique avec une bonne qualité (Typiquement en .flac/.wav)

Estos auriculares, son lo mejor que tiene Sony, quitando de la ecuación los de la gama alta, que por su elevado precio, debido a sus especiales características, están a otro nivel. Pero en la gama de menos de 500 €(han llegado a estar hasta por 288€)son sin ningún género de duda, los mejores del mercado en su rango de precio y segmento. Destaca en todos los aspectos, comodidad, materiales, batería, calidad de sonido, tanto apagados, con cable o por Bluetooth, aunque es aconsejable usarlos encendidos y vía cable. El entorno con su App es muy útil y fácil de usar. Se dicen muchas cosas de estos auriculares que son sencillamente cosas sin sentido. Son los mejores. Si usas todos sus competidores, vas a acabar utilizando éstos porque, sencillamente, me repito, son los mejores. Utilizados con un móvil con Android 13 tienen sonido espacial y seguimiento de cabeza. Con aplicaciones, como por ejemplo, Tidal, utiliza la configuración personalizada de tu fisonomía auditiva, para mejorar la experiencia. Usados con la gama de walkman de Sony vía cable, le sacarás todo el partido a sus procesos de digitalización avanzada, siempre y cuando, los reproduzcas a través del reproductor de sonido de Sony, lo mismo si utilizas un smartphone último modelo de Sony. Pero utilizados en una buena tablet o smartphone, ya proporcionan una experience auditiva y de uso, excepcional. Se notan las innovaciones en diseño y material. Utilizados vía cable con la App power amp, se aprecian todos los matices de archivos a su máxima resolución,con una canción que pesa 2.5 gigas. Sí, pesa tanto que ni un walkman Sony nwa306, puede reproducirlos, la aplicación y el nwa 306 sólo llega a los 11.000 este archivo pasa de lo 22.000. No hay mejor manera de probar un equipo de audio... Se utiliza algo instrumental, preferiblemente con muchos instrumentos de viento, cuerda y percusión y a ser posible, diferentes voces humanas, por ejemplo un coro, a su volumen más bajo, eso nos dará, una muestra exacta de que tipo de aspecto queremos evaluar , variando una variable, dejando las demás fijas. Estos auriculares rinden a otro nivel. Ofrecen una experiencia ligeramente inferior a su gama alta. Cuentan con todos los avances tecnológicos, pero yo los utilizaría en combinación con un walkman Sony NW-A306 vía cable o un smartphone Sony de igual manera. La cancelación de ruido es tan efectiva que puedes estar en un ensayo de una banda sinfónica de viento o una orquesta sinfónica, con ellos puestos y aislarte, son geniales, me refiero a una prueba real. Hasta el último € gastado en estos Wh-1000XM5 merecen la pena, desde su acabado sedoso, su ajuste variable, textura, elección de diseño y materiales por sus característica electro acústicas. Describir la cálidad de audio es imposible. Como he dicho, sólo la escucha de un archivo de la máxima resolución, permite evaluar su gran calidad. Variando la escucha de ese archivo con diferentes auriculares, vía cable se aprecian, notables diferencias, sobre todo, en claridad, nitidez y profundidad del sonido. A los que dicen que tienen poco sonido, como también le achacan a los walkman, como el NW-A306, les recomiendo que se dirijan a un facultativo, que tras realizarles una audionetria, evalúe su situación. Nunca había experimentado una experiencia tan equilibrada de uso en este precio y rango. Es evidente, que la calidad es tan alta, que resulta muy sutil diferenciarlos de los Wh-1000M4 o los signature que pasan de 1000 €. Pero existe. Lo que hace que nos preguntemos, quién puede proporcionarnos todo lo que nos ofrece este producto, los auriculares WH-1000M5.
