Living with Cancer book review.
Excellent book. I wish this book was available when our son was being diagnosed and treated for ALL 7 years ago. He is a survivor and in college now. I think it would have been beneficial to have a chapter on cancer survivors and the struggles that many survivors have after their treatments are completed. However, the description of how the patient reacts to chemo treatments and family reactions were very similar to our experience. I know we would have reacted differently to our sons disposition on chemo days and subsequent days when he was tired and didn't want to go back to school. Fortunately, he was still playing on several high school teams and on many days was self motivated. Our son asked us to read this book so we as parents would understand what he went through during treatments. I would give this book 5 stars if they had discussed the need for cancer support groups for children and young adults during and after treatments are completed. However, I highly recommend the book.

Amazingly helpful resource!
Perfect for both patients and their families/loved ones. Also helpful for healthcare professionals who might not practice in the field of oncology. Read it myself and bought one for a friend undergoing cancer treatment currently. The beginning provides a wonderful overview of cancer diagnoses as well as medical terminology relating to cancer. Provides many practical suggestions and ideas. It is organized to address issues you might be facing. You can select a chapter to read, or to skip if it doesn't apply, or if you are not yet ready to read about that particular topic.

A Must Read for cancer patients and families.
This is by far the first book on cancer that I have read that helps from the beginning to the end. It guides you to understand the human side along with the need for support from your team while fighting this disease. It takes into account both sides from the patient/family to the medical team that is by your side throughout the fight.I will buy this for others who are diagnosed. It really is a Step-by-Step Guide.

Great read!
I highly recommend this book to anyone that is newly diagnosed with cancer. It really helped me and my husband understand and prepare for the battle. It's an easy read written in simple terms that anyone can follow and understand. It explains many of the confusing medical jargon that new patients encounter.

Helpful.
Lucky most was not relevant to my stage 1 with no need for further treatment. Thank God! Good for those especially who must have chemo or radiation.

Easy to understand
Easy to understand, answers many questions that you might not ordinarily think of asking. Very thorough and to the point. I highly recommend this book both for patients and for caregivers. Lily

Invaluable
I bought this after a friend was diagnosed with cancer. And I realised how little I know or understand about the logistics and terminology that goes with this. In order to be able to understand and advise I found this book invaluable. It’s like having access to your own oncologist and being able to ask unlimited questions. Knowledge is power. We must never leave ourselves not understanding this terrible (but often misunderstood) illness. When my friend’s partner was feeling a bit less raw - I was able to hand over the book after assuring her that the book is only practical. It contains no ‘drink a tincture of fresh lavender whilst fasting for 2 weeks’ type of ‘advice. It’s all medical and emotional advice.

A must have for those in need
A very readable book for those who have cancer. You can dip in and put of chapters when you need a little more info. Written for the American market but just as useful for UK readers.
