A bit uncomfortable, but reliable
I have tried several ear plugs (Hearos, Earos (avoid), Earasers) and honestly, this is the brand I keep coming back to. The flanged tips are honestly not comfortable, but for half the price of other HD earplugs, these give a listening experience just as good. With my slightly poor hearing in high ranges, other brands can kill the vibrant highs, but the ER20XS (reviewed here) and the ER20 before them are worthy options that don't aggravate or draw attention to my tinnitus even in a quiet room. As far as I know, the XS just means they're lower profile, meaning they stick out less. The sound is similar. The universal size package is convenient if you don't know your size. I had to use a different size for each ear because mine are irregular.

They work well for me.
These work very well for me. I got them mostly for when I see bands in small venues or even larger concerts. Just wanted some hearing protection. They fit well and really block out a lot of the harsh sounds and frequencies without being muffled. I used the larger size tips for me. I found wetting them a bit before inserting them helps a lot. I honestly don't know what the foam tips are for and I don't use them. I also don't use the case that came with these. Instead I got a cylindrical metal case that I can attach to my keychain so these are always with me if I need them. Make sure to clean them after use so they're always ready for the next time.

Different from the earplugs I've had before. Definitely not for everyone. Recommended
If you're looking for earplugs that have the maximum ability to suppress sound, these are not what you're looking for. Generally speaking, I've consistently bought and used foam earplugs. While good for muffling all sound, foam isn't good if you still want to be able to hear at a lower volume. At a club, for example, I may not care at all to hear what's going on, but I WOULD want to hear what's going on at a concert (without going deaf). I decided it was time to look into flanged earplugs, but wasn't sure what to get. Not knowing anything, I first started looking into Eargasm earplugs. Since this was meant to be an experiment, I wasn't quite ready to spend that much. With a little more effort I found this product. I didn't know what size I was, so I got the universal fit. Subsequent purchases can be for just the correct size. The item is pretty comfortable to wear, as the silicone is soft enough, and the curvature of the flanges rolls inward just so. Sound is still clear, but just not as loud. It's actually quite surprising. The volume attenuation reduces the perceived volume by around 50%. That's not as much as you might think. At a really loud venue these may not be enough, but they've worked well for me. Based on my experience, I think these are well worth buying. I would say that if you don't know how high the SPL will get, make sure you bring a backup set of foam plugs (just in case). Highly recommended

The Only Filtered Earplugs Worth Buying
I want to clarify since I'm going to give these a really good review that I wasn't paid or sponsored in any way. I have bought 3 of these with my own money and I love them dearly. These are the ones to buy! First, they're one of the few that come with replaceable tips instead of a one-size-fits-all. Makes a big difference as I had to change mine to get it to fit. The silicone works fine, but the foam tips seem like they can fit any ear shap if that's a problem. Second, they cancel out noise extremely well. I can hold full conversations with people, but the volume is cut in half (which makes sense, they're a 13dB drop). They're also the only ones that are confident enough to put a frequency graph showing even it's imperfections. Excellent for musicians, I'm a snobby audiophile and I'm impressed. Third, I can even drive with these while being completely safe. My car makes lots (and I mean lots) of road noise and I have to turn my speakers up in order to hear anything. I do hour long commutes all the time and it gets fatiguing. As an extremely elitist audiophile, protecting my hearing is extremely important and the long drives were making me anxious for my hearing. But no more. I can even listen to music with these and still hear all the detail in my speakers (or at least my brain feels it's a good trade-off, so it doesn't bother me). Absolutely get these, they're very well priced and have helped me lots.

Good ear plugs
As someone who attends a lot of concerts and is at a hereditary risk for hearing loss, my audiologist said it was important for me to protect my hearing. I wanted earplugs that I could wear at concerts that didn't take away from the overall experience. These did the job. I like that they come with different ear pieces (the small size worked for me, which is good because I couldn't get the tips off when I tried), and the carrying case and tether are also very helpful so they don't get lost or dropped. As other reviews say, you do have to put them pretty far into your ear canal to get the full seal and the most protection. They were comfortable enough, but after an hour or so it felt good to take them out before putting them back in. I'm not sure I could wear them for a very extended period without them becoming pretty uncomfortable. But I'm also not used to having things in my ears. There are definitely more expensive ear plugs out there, but I'm pretty satisfied with these.

They work, but too well for playing in a band (for me)
I bought these for when my band rehearses. It can get loud in the rehearsal studio. These do cut down on the sound rather well, but too well for my liking. I had trouble hearing the guitars and vocals and ended up taking them out. For me, they didn't work but for you they might. They are fairly comfortable, but you need to cram them good in your ear. The different attachments are helpful. YMMV

Great Quality
I have played music for over 40 years and I have custom plugs for performing but I needed some cheaper universal fits for cutting grass and going to shows. I liked them so much I bought them for my entire family. I strongly recommend them.

Must have for concert goers and office workers
I attend a lot of concerts and these are absolutely necessary if you do not want to damage your ears, but also want to continue seeing live music. Sound quality is great and honestly I think concerts sound way better with them in. No loss of fidelity or over-muffling of bass, treble, or mid-range. Very uniform decibel reduction. Another thing I like to use these earplugs for is office work in an open office setting. They come with a carrying case so I always keep it in my bag and it's lightweight and low profile enough not to be cumbersome. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate with chatter going around and I don't want to listen to podcasts or music to drown out the sound, so I put these on. I wouldn't keep them in for longer than 3 or 4 hours. Overall, really good purchase.

Works very well.
My wife suffers from ear ache when its windy. Past earplugs muffle the sound. These block wind but let's her hear.

Best Hi-Fi earplugs I've used
I have very sensitive ears, and have also been to many events where I was worried about permanent hearing damage. Not anymore thanks to these. I've used a few Hi-Fi earplugs before, but all of them just muffled the sound the same way regular foam earplugs would, while these preserved much more of the sound quality. I've been to concerts, clubs, music festivals etc. wearing these, and there's a noticeable drop in volume, while for the most part it preserves sound quality. I have felt a slight muffling at some of the more extreme frequencies (highs and lows), however it is absolutely worth the trade off to protect your hearing. The deep fit can be uncomfortable for some (if that's the case, try using the foam tips), but after using them for a while I think most people can get used to them, just make sure to keep your ears clean and to insert the deep fitting tips in the proper way (shown in their tutorial)! They're also light enough that after some time you pretty much forget they are there. When it comes to sound now, etymotic is the brand I swear by, and I'd highly recommend these, you really won't be disappointed! Update: I have been using these for over 5 years now, and my impression of these has only gotten stronger. They have held up so well in every single situation I have thrown them at. I am very thankful I no longer deal with ringing ears (and the hearing damage that it signifies) after being in loud environments, and carry them with me everywhere I go. It might seem a bit odd and you may get a few laughs by putting in earplugs depending on the environment but please take protecting your hearing as more important. Etymotic is still the audio brand I'll swear by.
