You got to cut the old one off and crimp the new one on not hard but need the splices and should use some heat shrink with it

The part seems to be working. UPS delayed the shipping for almost a week.

Not sure what you need to say about a replacement defrost thermostat - it has worked for me without any issues - the hardest part is getting to it, between taking the inside of the freezer apart and defrosting the coils to get to the faulty one it takes some time. Installation is nothing more than cutting out the old one and attaching the new one. I used some wire nuts and covered the connection with electrical tape making sure to have the connections positioned so the open end of the wire nut was facing downward to help prevent any moisture from getting into the connection.

Received the part in "off the shelf" good condition. However, in a bench test prior to installation, the new part proved to be defective. The thermostat is supposed to "close" when cold (so it turns on the defrost element). This part is closed all the time regardless of the temperature. I could not get it to "open". I gave feedback to the supplier (DR Quality Parts) and am waiting for a response. I will update this review if anything changes.

Thought my problem was my thermostat.This was really the problem,refrigerator kept freezing up and blocking the freezer defrost drain, and froze the refrigerator compartment closed. Once I installed this, the refrigerator was back to its old self,34 degrees, and -10 in the freezer. Bought a wireless thermostat and used it to monitor it,worked perfectly to confirm everything was working properly.

My Hotpoint HSS25IFMBWW refrigerator would not defrost automatically. Ice was building up on the evaporator and blocking the cooling airflow through the refrigerator. This caused my compartment temperature to rise. When I pulled off the panel to gain access to the evaporator, the potting on the old thermostat had popped off and there was a broken wire in it. I bypassed the thermostat to make sure that was the only problem. I changed the thermostat out and my refrigerator has been working fine.
