Is this good for older people? I've looked at other foot massagers and they all seem too heavy

This is a heavy unit. The messager is VERY strong…..for tender feet.

How tall is the massager when folded flat? Will it slide under a couch that has 4.5" clearance height?

No. It is definitely too big for that.
