This thing rocks. Easy to install, works great with the corded hotwire I have, and it is POWERFUL. I had it running along a 200ft line and there was still a good amount of zap throughout. The end of the line had enough power to deter a horse but not too startling for a human to touch. The first 20ft of line, however, is a different story. I accidentally brushed my shoulder against it and I think I saw God. I felt the current run from my left shoulder, through my lungs, and down my right arm. It shocked my lungs so bad it made me cough. Now I know that if I ever need a defibrillator, I can just go out to the pasture! Buying another one to protect my bees from the bears.

I set this up last week because the deer always hammer my acre field of blueberries, especially in the winter. My hope was to train the deer to avoid the patch going forward. A farmer told me that the best way to keep deer out with an electric fence was to set the wire 6 inches off the ground. Yes, 6 inches. This way the deer can't see the wire to jump over it. He claimed this method worked perfectly for his garden - no deer will cross the line because it shocks them in the feet and they back away. Then they avoid the area. So I tried it with this fencer. It set up in the normal way all fencers do. The first night, I discovered deer had approached the wire and broke it. I repaired it, and then checked it this morning, two days later. With snow on the ground I could see in five places where the deer tracks approach the fence and then turn away. In one place a deer tore up dirt in haste to get away from it. I did discover at least one set of tracks that had crossed over into the patch but appeared to continue right on through without pausing. At one week in, I think the training process is going well. To encircle an acre of berries, set posts, run wire, and hang the fencer unit in a shed took me about 5 hours all in all. For $100 for the fencer (25 Mile, 1-Joule), I will consider this a worthwhile investment if it lasts.

Our area is full of chicken predators. I have bought two of these now. We use one to energize the parameter fencing insulators around the outside of our chicken coop, and chicken run--that one is a year old with no issues whatsoever. The second one I bought to use on the parameter of our chicken tractor. I mounted these energizers inside of the enclosures to keep them out of the weather elements. These have enough power to fry slugs, kill frogs, handle tall grass, and keep working with plenty of juice to spare--enough juice to make your feet hurt and talk really ugly to it if you forget to cut it off before doing your chicken chores. So far nothing has even attempted to bother our chickens. I cannot imagine any predator being able to endure such a shocking experience.

Purchased this as a direct replacement for my horse fence, the previous one served us well until it was destroyed by an electrical surge caused by lighting.. Easy to install and priced below local supply stores .

This review is for the Zareba EAC25M-Z. I usually wait about 2 months before I leave a review to make sure I have had a chance to use the item. In this case I was leaving a review for a charger I just returned from another company that stopped working and was so pleased with this one that I thought I would just go ahead and leave a review based on how happy I am. I was never very happy with the last energizer I had, and it stopped working after 17 days. I ordered this on Amazon, and it arrived the next day. This is a bit of an overkill for my garden electric fence, but I didn't want to take chances any longer with the animals. The readings on my tester are up there just where they are supposed to be and when I use the blade of grass test my hand jumps almost right away where my previous charger made me question its effectiveness. The click of the power is distinctive if you are close. The light on the unit isn't very bright. I was out in the darkness and couldn't tell if the light was on one time. I don't really care about the light as long as I can hear a click. I am very happy with the power of this unit and very glad I bought this charger!

This charger worked great for 8months until it was hit by lightning. The warranty does not cover lightning damage. I would not recommend this brand as there are others out there that have better warranties. I just tossed money in the trash.

Was working great. My first one went 10 plus years. This one was super quiet and could hardly be heard ticking. Kinda hard to tell that it was working. But alas just over 6 months and it just got blown to smithereens by lightening. So I need a new one again.

This 25 mile 1 output joule electric fence charger is surprisingly strong. Even when the grass has grown up and shorting out a bit it is still strong. Tested it in the rain with wet clothes(I do not recommend lol) and it will definitely deter the moose, bears and deer away from my fruit trees.
