Even better... Install The Roku App (Official) on your cellphone, pair it to your Roku device, and never charge or replace a battery again. It doesn't even eat up the battery load on my iPhone 14. There are several third party Roku apps that are rated as well, but I stick to the vendor's version to avoid security and other issues. The other upside is being able to control the "listen" feature by simply disallowing mic access to the app, since others have pointed out that there is no way to this feature.

If i have a smart wifi connected tv with apps built in, how why would i need this roku? does it improve the tv somehow (signal, dolby atmos, etc)?

You have to decide if buying the Roku experience is worth the money. I bought a top-of-the-line LG OLED smart TV and still haven't figured out how to navigate the "apps". I have Roku on three other non-smart TVs and love the way it works. I'm buying the Roku Ultra today for the LG. I think some of the problem is that the TV manufacturers take money from media providers to showcase their products. So, Disney+ pays LG but Paramount+ doesn't. Guess which one is easy to find?
