Awesome!
My dog is allergic to pretty much everything. This brand is awesome for him and he seems to enjoy it a lot. I order it here once a month for my big pooch, and i've always been satisfied with the quality. The price is also very comparable to the other petstore i used to buy it from. And, with the free shipping, i don't have to waste gas money (or time) and I get it delivered directly at work or at home.

Awesome food and great for skin issues
Normally, you don't find fish in cheaper dog foods. If you do, it is likely processed with a very toxic chemical called "ethoxyquin". Wellness core specifically states that they DO NOT use fish processed with this chemical! Very important to find that on whatever fish based food you purchase. Also, there is no Wheat or Corn in Wellness Core products. Both wheat and corn are common causes of allergies in dogs. There are also NO "animal by-products", "rendered", or "animal digest" products. If you knew what those were or how they are made, you would get sick (think all the animal parts left over that cannot be eaten be humans). If the zombie apocalypse comes, I'd not have an issue eating some Wellness Core in a pinch :-) Why I use the fish version. My previous dog were on the regular wellness core for 10+ years. Both passed away and I adopted an adult dog and started him on the same food. He had an existing skin condition and I though putting him on a "wheat and corn free" diet would help. Well it did somewhat, but the skin issues didn't resolve. Asking around I found out that omega 3 fats can make a huge difference related to skin issues. Initially I was going to use ground Flax and add it to the food, but discovered that the omega 3's from Flax are different from the omega 3's in fish oil. Fish oil has EPA and DPA, while flax is mainly ALA (alpha lineolic acid). Both are types of oils are good, but the benefits of fish are not provided by flax. Why I switched to Wellness Core Fish. The omega 3 fat content from this food is very high and helped tremendously with my dog's itchy skin. He use to chew the top of his back at the base of his tail and on the sides above his rear legs. After about a month of switching to this food, the chewing started to stop and after another month, his skin cleared up and hair started to fill in. He was previously on the regular Wellness Core (which I think is turkey based?) The protein, fat, carbohydrate breakdown of the two different types of food are very similar. The only obvious difference is one is fish based. Most of the other ingredients are the same. From the research I've done, dog allergies that are food related, are commonly caused by WHEAT, and CORN. You won't find either of these in Wellness Core. You will want to keep this food in an air tight container. It is fish based and is a bit smelly. It will smell like someone opened a can of tuna in the kitchen.

Woof woof ๐ถ!
I spoke to Charlie , my Lab Doodle. He states he likes the aroma that comes from his dish when served, it hits all his senses. Charlie added the crunch is spot on, then he excitedly says the fresh ocean flavours takes him away to fishing sea side !! Charlie highly recommends this food.

Great Results
Honestly, I ordered this food because I wanted a subscribe and save discount, and chose dog food to cut down the number of bulky, heavy items I have to deal with when shopping. I am really glad I chose Wellness CORE Ocean! My black lab, Grace, is 5 and has been plagued with itchiness, hot spots, and hair loss for years. I've tried elimination diets in the past but nothing worked so we figured that the allergy was environmental, as it is much worse in the summer and nearly resolves in the winter. Also, Grace refuses to eat premium food. We have always fed our dogs premium food, so we reluctant to give up trying. To my great surprise, after a month on the Core (with some of her old food mixed in with decreasing amounts weekly), her itching, licking, and hair loss are VASTLY improved. Clearly, Core isn't her favorite food, but I think she eats it because I made the transition very gradually. Grace is also a happier dog, more likely to play and hang out with her family. Her coat is in better condition than I've seen in years. Just one caveat: the SMELL. I have sensory issues, and the thought alone of fish is enough to make me queasy; the smell makes me gag. This food smells very strongly of fish. I understand that it's because it's a high quality, fish-based product, so I just hold my breath when I feed Grace. i also have my spouse clean out the dog food bin. I find if we don't keep the food in a bin, the smell permeates the kitchen. I'm glad I ordered this food and I'm going to keep giving it to my lab.

A well thought out review, BUY THIS FOOD
I first purchased this dog food four months ago and am just now writing a review. My dog has severe allergies and I wanted to be absolutely sure of my rating when I wrote this review. I have a 1 year old pit bull who scratched her skin constantly, had red skin, yeast infections (brown gunk) in her ears and toes, and crusty ear flaps. I started her on this food hoping that the single protein, fish, grain free food would eliminate her symptoms. IT WORKS! I read another review on here that said it took their dog up to three months to see results and yes, PLEASE give this food some time to work, it took about three months for my dog to show drastic change too. No more ear crud, no most incessant scratching til she has welts, she's a happy, healthy dog thanks to Wellness Core Ocean Formula dog food. Pay a little more for dog food or a ton in vet bills and having an uncomfortable dog? The choice is clear for me, buy the food. If the price is really an issue for you, it's free two day shipping on a 26 lb package with Amazon Prime or have a yard sale to help pay for the food. It's worth it! REMEMBER: If you're going for a single protein, fish, grain free food to eliminate allergies, remember that dog treats also need to be single protein, fish, grain free. My favorite on Amazon are "Cloud Star Dynamo Dog Skin and Coat Functional Treat Pouches, Salmon". You can cut them up to be a bit smaller if you have a small dog or decide to use them for training. UPDATE: It's been years since we started feeding our dogs this food and they still look healthy, happy, and LOVE the food. SO happy with this product. Much cheaper on Amazon with Prime free 2 day shipping than in the pet food stores.
