Fantastic tool with room for improvement
I love these basket muzzles. I find them difficult to find at times online, so I try to stock up on them since my dog training clients can never find them in the stores locally when they're dog needs them.Basket muzzles are the only type of muzzle I prefer because it teaches your dog to control his own mouth. The cloth kind keeps their mouth shut so they are never learning their own bite inhibition. Basket muzzles also allow a dog to bark, pant (vitally important for extended wear), drink, & eat (though this takes practice with a large bowl of kibble). Basket muzzles are also superior to cloth because they cover the tip of the dog's muzzle, so the dog can't even nip anyone. This also makes them ideal for helping with other issues like coprophagia. The drawback to this muzzle in addition to its scarcity, is the lack of strap from the top of the nose to the back head strap. To buy one with this strap already on the muzzle the cost becomes exorbitant. With my personal APBT, who is quite dog aggressive, about 10 years ago I found these and started using them on him when I needed him to make friends with a particular dog so everyone remained safe and the people could remain calm. He had a level of training I didn't quite appreciate at the time so when I put the muzzle on him and he pawed at it, I told him once or twice to leave it alone and that was the end of his attempts to remove it. Now that I'm going to in-home lessons with untrained dogs, I realized pretty quickly that my dog is exceptional in his tolerance of equipment I use with him. Most dogs will immediately try to pull this off their face with their claws, and if you cannot tell your dog to stop with immediate compliance, your dog will succeed in pulling this muzzle off the top of his nose so that it just dangles around his neck like a necklace. As a cheap fix for that with my clients (I don't wish to carry super expensive muzzles as they generally are just temporary tools), I decided to buy a spool of twine for $2 and just cut a small bit of it to tie to the top of the nose band and the head strap at the base of the skull. Then the dog can be allowed to give his best shot at removing the muzzle and once he fails, will fairly quickly submit to the notion it must be worn and he will leave it alone. If not for me needing more than I can find sometimes and the twine fix I have to use, I would rate this piece of equipment five stars.

Good for occasional use. A good starter muzzle with flexible basket.
For the price this is a very decent muzzle. It isn't ridge plastic like some which makes it more comfortable for the dog to wear. However, if one has a dog which has a serious aggressive issue or has bitten before I don't think I would recommend this muzzle for that use. I use it only when clipping/grinding one of my dog's (Malinois) nails who was not taught at a early age that nail trimming and grinding isn't going to hurt her. Based on her reaction I suspect someone badly cut her nails and hurt her. Therefore, she can be reactive if there is even the slightest discomfort to her feet. It has taken months to desensitize her to nail grooming. This is a good muzzle for occasional use but due to it's flexible nature I would not bet my life on it's use with a dog that has a serious aggression problem. I would recommend the metal wire basket muzzle for serious bitters. Like any muzzle it is critical to train your dog, by using lots of high value treats, that the muzzle isn't a bad thing. Make a game of it. I put some bits of cheese or hot dogs in the end of the muzzle and allot the dog to take the treat by putting their nose into the muzzle. I repeat this many, many times until the dog will voluntarily put their nose into the muzzle pairing that with the word "Muzzle". Only then will I fasten the muzzle and leave it on for less than a minute before removing. I again repeat this step many times before leaving the muzzle on for several minutes. Your dog will probably never love the muzzle but with this training process for muzzle acceptance, they will learn it isn't a horrible device but a game to play which results in treats.

Good product
Fits well but without the strap to attach to his collar he get this off easy. But we are just attaching with twine so we can take off easy when he comes back in the house. The other basket muzzles that had the strap were very expensive compared to this one. We bought because our Weim pup swallowed rocks two different times and had to have surgery. He doesn't love this but he likes it MUCH more than the other devices that didn't let him pant of bark. This is much safer for him.
