According to GE and their water dispenser, about 10oz of fluid.

Is it smaller than it says?

No. It looked a bit small but my husband has used it for a year now and it can hold almost 12 oz. It's very sturdy, too. He's a big coffee drinker and although he'd like it bigger he didn't complain because it's a decent cup of coffee.
