I always feel a little trepidation ordering a product nobody has reviewed, but for the price, I thought I'd give it a punt. On arrival I removed the puck screen from its case and was surprised by the weight and solid feeling of the device. Seemed of a high quality and slightly thicker than I expected. I gave it a rinse and tried it with my post millennium Pavoni. First things first, it affected the temperature. It's a reasonable chunk of metal in the group head so it took the overall temperature down quickly. I also felt there was a slightly metallic taste to the first few shots. However, I did notice I was getting lots of lovely crema and a balanced flavour. From using it a few days now, I pop it in my espresso cup with some hot water to preheat both puck screen and cup. This solves the problem of thermal exchange without having to pull a second shot. I'm having to tamp a little harder as it seems to allow the water through a bit quicker although it's supposed to allow you to presoak the coffee longer in the group head. Perhaps some more variation is required to find the correct combination. It's far more forgiving if you wish to pull a second shot as it cuts down on portafilter sneeze. The ejected pucks are perfect. It solves any channelling issues and the metallic flavour has gone. I'm really pleased with the device. For those that know the Pavoni, even when you're very used to the whole process, there can easily still be variation. This screen seems to pull the finesse back a little and you don't have to be quite as precious with preparation. I feel I still have to work out the grind setting and tamp pressure as the goal posts have changed, but the coffees I'm getting are beautifully creamy and delicious.

I recently purchased this 58mm puck screen for my Profitec Go and am very happy with it. The screen is made of high-quality stainless steel and fits perfectly in my portafilter. It's easy to clean and has improved the consistency of my shots. The puck is now consistently dry and my workflow post-extraction is much cleaner and more straightforward. I don't know why I didn't buy this sooner! As this isn't that expensive, I feel this is a really good addition with solid cost performance.

So I think I was seduced into getting one of these from watching too many coffee videos on YouTube. It's perfectly nice, but I don't know if it actually does anything. Maybe that's down to my ineptitude in coffee making skills but now it just sits sadly on top of my coffee machine in its plastic box, looking at me. I'll probably try it again one day and see if it changes anything. If you know what you're doing, then this is perfectly nice, but I can't advise if it's any good.

I was looking for a puck screen to fit the portafilter that comes with the Sage Barista Express. This puck screen fits perfectly and isn’t too thick so shouldn’t impact the portafilter fitting into your machine. It’s very easy to clean, I rinse under warm water after every use and occasionally soak in biking water, but don’t ever get anything coming out, showing the daily rinse works well! The screen also saves your group head getting dirty with coffee grounds, saving another cleaning job. So far I’ve been using it 1-2 times a day without any issues, it seems like it will last a while! I’ve not noticed any impact to the taste of the espresso, good scores all round!

Of all the accessories so far, including a funnel and a distribution tool, this has made the biggest difference in my coffee making. Now, this may be machine specific, but with my Barista Express I often struggle to pull great tasting low ratio shots. I suspect this implement helps prevent channeling in the puck as the flow stays more or less consistent throughout. Added benefit is the puck comes off cleanly and the machine shower screen is also clean. Win win. The item seems well designed so hopefully will last. But at that price, not really an issue.

Its quite thick compared to other puck screens so i have to reduce the dosage when using it which isnt ideal for me.
