How long is the cord between the headphone and the connector?

It’s about 40 inches between the two sections.

Can one use any basic inexpensive headphones without loss of effectiveness?

These didn't work for mom at all. She tried them with and without her hearing aids. They are just sitting in a drawer. Hearing loss requires more than just something that amplifies sound.

do these help in a movie theater?

Is best in one-on-one and small group conversations.
