Good for dogs and toddlers.
Bought this to keep my dog from entering the bedrooms at night. He loves to put a wet nose on any body part sticking out from under the blankets. It expands to fit most doorways and stays in place.

High quality. automatically closes behind you
This is a really stylish gate that can be used for pets and children. I’m currently using it at the bottom of stairs to keep my elderly dog from being able to travel up the stairs due to his instability. It doesn’t look like a baby gate and swings open nicely and clicks shut automatically behind you.

People need to read the instructions..
Soooo many reviews said that theirs arrived faulty or this gate was broken. I was almost worried to order it, but I'm glad I listened to the people that simply said "just follow the instructions" because really... that's all you need to do. There's even a big note saying that the gate isn't perfectly square until installation.Installation: My boyfriend and I put it up together and we were not in any kind of rush.. it probably took us just a little over half an hour to install it. It was very simple and not hard to do at all. I purchased separate wall protectors so I didn't use the ones that came with it. But the sticky things that came with it worked nicely for us. It comes with a stopper attached to it which only allows it to open in one direction. We took ours off so it can open both ways. That was also a very easy and simple task to do.Looks: This gate looks very nice in between our living room and kitchen. I like the dark brown color of it and the design on the door. Like other reviews said, the decorative part which is the door of the gate is just some kind of plastic material. It's not necessarily flimsy, but it isn't as solid as the other parts of the gate. Unless you plan on getting angry and trying to kick the gate open if you can't figure out the latch.. then it shouldn't be any type of issue. Unless you're using it for pets and you're afraid they might chew on it.User Friendliness: I don't think this gate is too hard to open. My boyfriend doesn't struggle with it.. he just wishes it was just a little easier than it is. You slide something on the top and then lift. It's not "heavy" but you do have to actually try. We will be having a new baby here in a few weeks and I'm not worried about trying to open it with one hand while holding my newborn in the other.I LOVE that this gate can stay open though if you want it to. We will probably have it open most of the time while we're home so even if it was hard to open, I wouldn't be too upset about it. The main reason I bought this was because I'm attaching a sign to it that requests all guests take their shoes off. I have this mounted to the walls between the kitchen area and our living room, and when I know people are coming over, I will have the gate closed so they have to look at the sign and take their shoes off in the room with hard floors rather than bringing their dirty shoes onto our carpet.

Good gate
It works as it should it’s a good height and size the latch is great considering even for an adult and older children have a difficult time unlatching it to open it. 😂 When my boyfriend installed it he put it at the very bottom of the stairs instead of on the last step so my dog is able to get over it so it don’t work well for her due to where my boyfriend placed it. The only real complaint I have is that it slams shut and opened and when I try to push it open to stay propped open it’s quite stiff and take a bit of effort but maybe as we open and close it more it’ll start to ease up some.

Detained my grandfather with dementia
Worked great at the bottom of the stairs to keep my grandfather from going up and falling. Nice and strong mounts to the wall if needed. Not cheap but good product would recommend buying it again.

Great for the price!
With four dogs and a new baby on the way, we needed a way to close off two of the main "pathways" which take you from the front to the back of our home. These did the trick. In my opinion, these are very high quality for the price you are paying. The color is really nice. I was surprised to find that the decorative part of the gate was plastic, but it makes perfect sense. If it were metal, it would create a cutting hazard for small children that might try to stick their tiny fingers in there. The only thing I didn't like is the bolts on the side, when extended, are silver. This sticks out considering the gate itself is bronze. I remedied this with dark permanent marker; now it looks much nicer.Other notes:1) First and foremost, it is important to follow the directions. I tried to install the first one without using the directions and failed miserably. In comes my husband; he read the directions, and everything went perfectly.2) I see there are a lot of complaints about the gate being a "tripping hazard" because it's not "flush with the floor." Again, going back to following directions, it says the bottom of the gate should be in contact with the floor. For those mounting it halfway up your wall, of course you're going to trip over it if you are trying to step through it! Is there to potential to still trip over the mere 1" bottom bar? Absolutely. However, if you're careful and watch where you are going, you shouldn't have a problem. Common sense.3) Also saw a lot of complaints about not being about to mount it properly because of mold close to the floor. First of all, that's not the manufacturer's problem; that's your own. Secondly, I was able to mount mine on our molding just fine (its relatively flat), and the gate still worked. If you're having a problem with the top gap, you need to tighten more. Unscrew the plastic washer a bit, then use your wrench. Trust me, if I can install this gate, so can you. I'm pretty terrible when it comes to this type of stuff.4) If your hands are full, yes, it is obviously might be difficult to push the lever into the right position to open the gate. However, if you loosen the tension from the wall a bit, it gets easier. Tighten too much, you make it harder on yourself.
