GelmixInfant Thickener for Breast Milk & Formula, 4.4 oz Jar

This is the only product that works well with breastmilk that I have found. It does not add a lot of calories such as rice and oatmeal, which also does not mix with breastmilk. It does give my baby some gas makes her poop less frequently With thicker consistency. This sizing is more economical than the individual packets. It is nice to have the option of mixing a smaller 3 ounce feed or a larger 6 ounce feed with the small scoop it comes with.

I am not one to leave reviews on amazon, this might actually be my first amazon review ever which is a testament to how thankful I am for this product. We have been through the ringer with our almost 5 month old. Slow to gain weight, unable to keep anything down, feeding aversions, tongue/lip/buccal tie revisions, multiple lactation consultants before finally giving up breastfeeding altogether. She has fallen off of her growth curve and I was having anxiety attacks at every feeding because I didn't know how it was going to go and because our pediatrician was not taking my complaints seriously. We are now in feeding therapy and trying to figure out why eating has been so difficult. Our daughter is sensitive to taste changes, even in pumped breastmilk depending on what was eaten she may refuse it altogether. We were very nervous how adding thickener would affect her feeding aversions and we are so pleased that it made no difference, I think she is finally just happy to be able to eat without choking! we have tried EVERYTHING before gel-mix, it didn't matter the bottle/nipple/type of formula/breastmilk diet changes/anything. This product has been the ONLY thing to help us. We are no longer covered in throw up an hour later, she is finally eating full bottles, and has gained a full pound in the first two weeks since starting it.Yes, the price point would be steep for someone needing very thick bottles in addition to formula expenses. We are only on one formula bottle a day (for calories and laziness on my part...early morning feed lol) and the rest is breast milk so it is not that expensive for us. I'm unsure how it would be if we were buying formula fulltime too though so that would be something to consider. This thickener is also one of the only ones we've seen that doesn't seem to affect the nutritional value of breastmilk too.TL;DR Gelmix is a life saver, I would sell everything I own to budget this in if I had to. My baby is finally happy, gaining weight, and meeting milestones. This has saved us.

Solid product. Our little one had troubles keeping her milk down and this mix has helped with that issue as advertised. Recommend shaking/mixing well into the milk to get the most effect and minimize any waste.

So my baby was spitting up and throwing up after feedings and couldn’t hold down breast milk. I suspected it was GERD and ordered this thickener to help my baby keep the breast milk down. With a small amount (less than 1 scoop) per 2-3 fluid ounces, thickened the breast milk and my baby is not throwing up anymore. Her appetite increased and is a much happier baby. Keep in mind to follow the instructions for mixing the thickener. Shake for the required amount of time and double check the temperature if you are warming your milk or formula. Also, you might need to change your feeding nipple to a larger one or one specifically for thicker formula.

We use this daily to thicken my babys breastmilk bottles since my baby was premature and has to have thickened feeds. It works well. I took a star off because 1. It is expensive and 2. No matter what I do i always seem to get a couple small pieces of clumps/dry powder that won't seem to blend in the bottle despite reading instructions.

1. “Number 1# pediatric formula” is misleading. Hospitals use Simply Thick and Thick-It.2. Time consuming when compared to using the aforementioned products.3. Doesn’t work. Warmed up the formula and tried to kid but the thickener coagulated into chunks.4. Tried warming up some water instead. It thickened in the water but as soon as I added it to the formula it just floated around in gelatinous chunks.Don’t recommend
