Aston Microphones Halo Portable Microphone Reflection Filter, Black

I was hesitant on purchasing this because of opinions i heard. But after using this in my makeshift youtube recording studio, it made a HUGE difference in my recordings. I have a lot of room reflections because my room is totally untreated and has framed pictures on all the walls. On top of that one of the bordering walls has a bathroom on the other side so sometimes you can hear running water. Using this i was able to place my back against my open closet and with this Halo in front of me, it cut down nearly everything and made the recordings sound so much cleaner. I would definitely hold my expectations to something reasonable though. It isn't going to drown out a ton of background noise or soundproof. It is meant to stop echo and cut the room reflections and it does a fantastic job of it. You just have to tweak where and how you use it. The quality is fantastic, and it is super light, but you can tell it is made of quality materials. The mount was also super easy to use which on the competition out there like SPACE SE have complaints on. Definitely worth giving this a shot, i highly recommend it.

I was skeptical of this reflection filter but after alot of use this is not something that will drown out every background noise (I know because I live in a high traffic area, with bratty kids as my screaming neighbors. Having set the picture, I really just wanted something that I can record some vocal tracks. I'm not a particularly good singer but I record mostly techno so all I need is some background stuff. The Halo certainly reflects noise..enough to where I can get rid of the backgroun noise with my nifty swifty (I slipped that one in for all you swiftie fans algorithm!) I don't do any live performances but this is a totaly portable piece of equipment. It's study enough so my fumbling hands can't break it So all in all this was a hit for me. Easy to set up and use too Highly recommend!

Delivery was fast, appears to have been in original packaging unopened. I was hesitant when I saw some reviews regarding seller but I must say I am pleasantly surprised that I had no issues. Would buy from seller again.

Just sold my Post Audio arf-32 (v.4) and when I got the Halo Shadow in the mail and set it up I was shocked at how well this bad boy seals in the sound and blocks out the room. Just talking into it you will hear the quality. This is the best mic stand recording filter ever made. Extremely well crafted in a solid form. Super pricey, yes, but far cheaper than going all out on room acoustic treatment. Another beauty is the design makes it easy to swap mics. Get this thing if you want pro vocals. By the way you definitely don't need to buy the extra warranty if you never move it and keep it covered sos to prevent dust working in.

Fantastic results

I love this filter! It works great with my MXL 4000 and does a fantastic job at keeping out any extra noise or room tone. Between this and my little Dragonpad Pop Filter, I end up with a perfectly dry recording practically every time. It's super easy to construct and it is made so that the microphone can slide freely forward or backward into or from the filter. The filter itself is made very sturdy considering how light it is and it has a nice acoustic felt finish. The only thing that I have to say about this product before anyone else encounters the same problem that I did... Because this product is made in the UK and my microphone is American made, at first the holder for the mic on the filter was unable to be screwed into the microphone because it was too small. The part that needs to be screwed in is 3/8" and my microphone had a hole for a 5/8" screw, so to fix this all I had to do was order a 3/8" female to 5/8" male threaded screw adapter and it fit perfectly! I haven't had any issues with it since and I would definitely recommend this filter for anyone that is looking for a great quality reflection filter fit for the price.

I purchased a Astin Spirit microphone and then saw the Halo. Wow, this beats everything on the market for recording nice clean vocals in any room. I’ve noticed these popping up in major label recording studios as late. There’s a reason why. Yes it’s expensive, but you get what you pay for.
