A bargain, but basic, laptop
We were previously using an Asus X205TA (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00R6BRR2A/) - an 11.6" Intel Atom/2GB/Windows 8.1 upgraded to Windows 10 on a 32GB SSD. After 7 years, its performance showed its age. But it was a good machine that lasted the years. On discovering this more recent Asus E510MA (with a more recent 15" Celeron/4GB/Windows 11 on 128GB eMMC), it appeared to be the ideal successor. A much larger screen, modern Windows, larger SSD, and it cost very little more (£187 vs £155) than that old X205TA from 7 years ago.The use of that laptop was primarily web, email, and Excel. We used some third-party software, but nothing essential or that couldn't be replaced (like FireFox, Thunderbird, etc), so we've decided to leave it on "S Mode".The result is a much more responsive machine, a better user experience, a keyboard with a number pad, and a great screen for the price. If we get the same 7 years out of it that we got for the last one (which is still running, albeit slowly, and still has a decent battery life), then we'll consider it the bargain of the year. It's no powerhouse, if that's what you're looking for. I know lots of people will immediately switch out of "S Mode" and into "full Windows 11" in order to use third-party software but, really, if you buy this with that intention in mind then you would be better off buying something more powerful. (I've not tested it for gaming, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be brilliant.)But, as a basic web/email/Office laptop, this is a great buy.

Great value for my needs
Ordered this as I’ve just been made redundant so needed something to apply for new jobs on, update my CV/covering letter etc so didn’t need anything high spec but did want something decent that wouldn’t run slow and add to my frustrations plus the year’s subscription to O365 was a bonus. Was quick and easy to set up, runs well and is prompt to turn on. For what I need it for it’s a great value but of kit.

Perfect little MS 365 machine
Got this whilst on offer (£179) which is incredible! Super-simple to setup with the pre-installed Office 365 suite. Comes with a year of "personal" 365, but I signed in with my work's account. Everything works perfectly. Even used Teams for a video meeting on its first day.Our company uses OneDrive as our shared "server" and this was dead easy to setup too. I even configured it to only keep OneDrive local copies if a particular file was used in the last 14 days (via storage sense). This keeps local storage available (which isn't huge, in all fairness). For a low spec laptop, it performs absolutely fine for 365 stuff. It starts up really quickly too (after its initial flurry of obligatory Win11 updates).

Woefully Underpowered
To be sure, it's not the laptop, but the low spec that is the issue. My mistake was to think that a low budget laptop from a well known manufacturer of good products would suffice for basic tasks such as shopping online, surfing Youtube and watching Netflix. No games and only an occasional document required.4gb of ram is just not enough, and the motherboard won't allow a further 4gb or swap out for an 8gb.Running the task manager with a broswe open on Google homepage with no other apps running, is over 75-80% of both cpu and ram.Chrome tabs just gobbled up the rest, and Firefox not much better. If you run an ad blocker and a script, Youtube pages are 10 secs a pop to load.Sub £300 seems like a no-brainer for a basic tasks laptop, but the slow performance will drive you nuts within a few days. Don't do it. Instead find something with 8gb for just a little more.

Didn’t last
Got this a year ago can’t do meetings as the sound doesn’t work anymore, also the mouse has stopped working. Good for about 9 months then totally useless
