This stone works fine and the grits seem pretty close to what is advertized. The little sharpening guide is fixed at 20 degrees so if you are touching up expensive chefs knives, keep in mind that the factory edge is probably 14 degrees ( most quality chef knives are) so you may not want to use the guide as other than a reference point so you can keep your blade at less of an angle. I generally use the 5,4,3,2,1 method in which you start with 5 strokes on each side, then 4 etc. and down to 1. This helps your muscle memory as flopping back and forth is iffy at best and this method helps you be consistant at your angle. Once done, I use a soft toothbrush to clean the slurry off the stone before putting it away as it keeps it from drying and clogging your stone. Great little set that should last you for many years.

This stone is perfect for kitchen knives but also good for scissors and hunting knives. 1000 grit side for getting your edge back and 6000 grit for finishing the edge. I use water on the 1000 grit side and oil on the 6000 grit side, which feels smoother than my 8000 grit stone oddly. This stone gets my knives extremely sharp and feels like It is well made.

I can get a razor edge on my knives. This combination stone has proved to be my "go to" stone for most of my sharpening chores.

At first I thought this was one stone, but 2 came in my package. After reading description again I realized it was suppose to be one stone, even though box is in perfection condition, my stone was chipped and broken in 2 pieces, I never got to use as intended.

Good product, seems well constructed, well packaged.
