This cost effective bi-directional scanner is GREAT!
This thing is awesome. My challenger was stalling out on me and would just crank. Found out the crank position sensor failed and installed a new one with a camshaft position sensor. It would then only stay running for a little while after it got to temperature. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I swapped out multiple sensors thinking I was just getting defective sensors. The dinky scanner I had was only uni-directional so it wasn’t giving me much. I wasn’t getting a single code. The day I was ready to give up and have the car towed to a mechanic, I saw this scanner and decided to order it to give it a shot. I LOVE THIS THING. Gives me everything I need to diagnose problems. I was able to deep dive into the PCM, bypass the ASD to start the car again, run it to temperature, do a cam crank sensor relearn, reset the PCM, and boom she runs better than before. Smoother ride and she shifts beautifully. I was able to run live data while I drove the car so I could monitor it. I was also able to record the data in real time in case an issue arose. Easy to use app if you know what you’re doing. I was even able to run actuation checks on every relay to check each one for faults. I highly recommend this cost effective option if you work on your own cars.

Works great for my Genesis
The XTOOL Anyscan A30D OBD2 Scanner is a solid, affordable tool that’s easy to use and quick to set up. Registration and software download through the app were seamless—just create an account, enter the activation code, and you’re ready to go within minutes. The app is clean, intuitive, and handles updates automatically. One thing I really appreciate is the fast scanning speed. It connects quickly via Bluetooth and pulls codes and system data without lag, which makes diagnostics much more efficient. It also works well with Genesis vehicles, with stable connectivity and access to multiple modules. Most importantly, it supports electronic parking brake (EPB) service functions, which was a key reason I chose it. That makes brake jobs much easier without needing a more expensive scan tool. Overall, great value for the features—especially if you need bi-directional control and reliable EPB functionality.

Huge bang for your buck here! Stop browsing and try this one out!
I've tried many an OBD-II scanner. From the first Bluetooth models that paired with Android Torque, to some of the newer dealer clones. I must say, this device shows great promise. The tech support is relatively responsive, depending on the time of day. There are a lot of language breaks in the software, but once you're used to those then you'll be working just fine. You WILL need quite a bit of space on your device if you want to download ALL of the manufacturer modules. Each car manufacturer has its' own download, along with some of the other functions having their own module. The software works pretty well, but definitely there's a lot of room for improvement. However, it's still a huge value. In testing my aunt's Lexus Hybrid, just connecting to the engine module and getting live data took about 60 seconds to pull all of the data. But there were seriously around 900 data points that were queried. This thing is seriously way beyond any scanner you've used before. It will connect to any number of independent systems in the car, provide live data for each, as well as scanning for fault codes not otherwise shown on generic scanners. The best part is that there are a ton of actuation tests that you can perform. But you must be careful with these, and make 100% sure you know what you're doing. You could definitely screw your vehicle up if you just go poking around and trying different actuation tests. Depending on which device you purchase (the devices themselves are identical) -- you'll get a license code that will enable certain of the special functions. If you plan to use on multiple cars, then get the most expensive one -- you'll get plenty of use out of it. Get yourself a good protective case for the unit also (it should come with one, seriously.). Save the tiny piece of paper that comes with it (or take a picture). Using an iPad is the optimal experience, but again you'll need a bunch of free space. I got free space errors even when I had 128GB free on my 256GB iPad so it can be finicky for some reason. If you have a technical mind then you will be in heaven with this device. With free lifetime updates, this is a major steal and you should jump on it now! I bought one for myself and one for my father. Don't wait... Just click and buy! You can always return it if you dislike it for some reason! (Plus it has a flashlight built into the adapter! Major WIN! LOL. The device is very well built and not flimsy feeling in the least bit). You can generate exports in PDF format of all of the data collected in live scans, but you cannot export raw data from a capture. This is the only big downside in my opinion. If you're trying to diagnose something and want to review live data, the best you'll get is reviewing it on-screen after recording. It even has space to enter your business details so they can be added into the PDF reports. Huge huge value, no kidding. I was not compensated or encouraged to leave this review. Good luck! --Josh

Great Portable Scanner
I’ve been really happy with the XTOOL A30D so far. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was that it feels solid and well built, not like a cheap plastic dongle that you’re afraid to leave plugged in. It has a nice weight to it and feels like something that should hold up well in a toolbox or glove box. Setup was pretty straightforward. I already have the XTOOL D7, so the iPhone app layout felt familiar and I didn’t have much of a learning curve. Pairing over Bluetooth was easy, and I like not having to drag a cord across my lap or have a handheld scanner sitting in the seat while I’m driving. I’ve left it plugged in while driving and used the app to watch live data in real time, which is one of my favorite things about it. The connection stayed stable for me, and the data refreshed fast enough to actually be useful. The small size is a big plus. It doesn’t stick out awkwardly from the OBD port, and it’s easy to keep in the vehicle without taking up space. I also like the built-in flashlight feature more than I expected. It sounds like a small thing, but when you’re trying to find the OBD port under the dash or check something in low light, it’s genuinely helpful. I’ve used it to scan modules, check codes, clear codes, and look at live data, and it has done everything I needed it to do. It feels like a great middle ground between a basic code reader and a larger professional scan tool. For quick checks, road testing, or keeping an eye on sensor data, it’s very convenient. Overall, I’m impressed. It feels sturdy, the Bluetooth connection is convenient, the app is easy to use if you’re already familiar with XTOOL, and the compact design makes it practical to leave plugged in when needed. Definitely a useful tool to have, especially if you like being able to monitor real-time vehicle data without dealing with cables.
