I use a lot of different spices in my cooking, and so I was excited to order this. The nigella sativa arrived in a large, resealable pouch. It looks, smells, and feels fresh.This is not your typical grocery store cumin. I was not able to compare it with a standard retailer, but I did compare it to the same spice I get at the Indian grocery. This is definitely good quality.The aroma is like a mild black pepper mixed with mild cumin, and this is a powder, very finely ground. It's suitable for Tex-Mex and Indian dishes, and could even be used to flavor certain desserts. All in all, a good choice for those looking to expand their spice repertoire.

I have a friend who swears by black cumin and honey as dietary supplements. While I haven't noticed my hair getting darker (one of the purported benefits) I do like the taste. I grind it with a mortar and pestle to add to dishes. Flavor is like regular cumin but a bit milder and perhaps a bit of pepper

I can't speak to the health benefits of black cumin versus the run of the mill stuff. The flavor of this to me is a lot more mild. I don't get that very cumin taste. There is a flavor somewhat similar but more mellow. My concern is the grind on this is a little more coarse than I would prefer. I may end up running it through a mill and see if I can get it finer. It is more like a coarse ground pepper. Works fine and adds flavor. I just prefer a finer grind.

The cumin powder comes heat sealed in a plastic bag that is resealable. Opening it the powder is fresh and has a slight moistness compared to a dry dusty powder. I have not tried black cumin before. It is not as intense of an aroma as the typical cumin powder in stores. There is an earthy peppery scent and flavor. I like it, but it is different than I was expecting. I am still getting used to what dishes it works best in. Overall it has a unique flavor that is worth trying and this product comes fresh in a reasonable quantity.

Cumin is one of my favorite spices. I love the depth of flavor it adds to dishes without adding a spicy heat. This black cumin really doesn't taste much like brown cumin. It tastes like a mild, earthy, black pepper. Having never used it before, added it to some stew & the flavor came through as more like pepper but without the heat. It's interesting. I'll need to experiment with it more to find out where it really shines. It did arrive quickly & sealed in a resealable pouch.
