I bought this for my 10 year old as a first timer. I wanted something simple for her to experiment with before she gets old enough to wear it on a constant basis (if she wants). Just opening the case she poked her finger in the lip gloss. It was a little difficult to open. The foundation applicator ripped on first use. It is very thin. The foundation is very very light. Like almost white. Even my fair completed daughter said it was way too light. Since this was only for practice I think it is fine for the price. She enjoys the kit and make up seems good.

When I received the item, there was no purse that is shown in the picture, the brushes were different by color and size, the foundation was in a small tube and not in the container shown, there was no "play 101 face stick", but a small lip gloss instead.
