I prefer to use a shampoo with pyrithione zinc, like Head & Shoulders, without having to pay the premium cost of a name brand. When Amazon decided to clone Head & Shoulders, they came out with Solimo which was offered as a single or a 6-pack at a fraction of the cost. It was great. Then they came out with an apple-scented one and it was wonderful. Then in their infinite wisdom, they dropped it completely from the platform including from Subscribe & Save. What a shame. However, weeks later they launched the same product now under Amazon Basics. The cost had gone up and the pack quantities changed. It was still cheaper than Head & Shoulders and it was on Subscribe & Save so I got back on it. I like this shampoo. It is just as good as name brand and I like the results. The original scent is fine but I still prefer the apple. I recommend this to anyone looking to save on their bathing products but still demand the results of the premium brands.

I switched to this particular dandruff shampoo + conditioner because the price of the name brands was getting ridiculous. I was pleased to find that it worked well with my hair & had an inoffensive scent. I was well into my 2nd bottle when I noticed that my hair wasn't getting squeaky clean anymore, & my dry hair felt heavy & a bit gummy. Diagnosis: residue buildup. Solution: use a different shampoo to get rid of the buildup before switching back to the Amazon brand. I had a bottle of Selsun Blue around, which worked very well. You don't need to make it complicated: do a first wash with the different shampoo, rinse, then shampoo again with the Amazon. Your hair will once again squeak with cleanliness. You don't necessarily need to use a dandruff shampoo for the 1st wash as long as you use one for the 2nd. Since you're probably considering this shampoo for the price, let me direct you to a couple of cheaper shampoos to use for the residue. Alberto VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo is an absolute steal at under $3 & it gets good reviews. I'd try it for myself if it didn't contain rosemary leaf extract, which my skin is sensitive to (do you know how many skin & hair products contain rosemary extract? Too many). For a non-rosemary containing shampoo, there's Prell Shampoo Original which is under $4. But any different shampoo would likely do. P.S. As long as we're discussing bargain prices, Aim is a good ADA approved fluoride toothpaste & it's $1.44 at my local grocery. P.P.S. If you have relatively straight hair, then keep a comb in your shower. After you have your conditioner or shampoo/conditioner worked in, comb your hair. This'll get the tangles out, plus kill some time if you're supposed to let your conditioner sit for a minute.

Great lather, rinses out easy, good smell, itch is gone, hair feels great. Try to keep it out of your eyes!

I love this stuff. It's every bit as effective as the brand name stuff but like half the price. Works great on beard dandruff as well as the head stuff. It smells nice and it leaves my hair nice and soft.

Generally speaking I'm a fan of the various Amazon brands available for personal hygiene, household cleaning, food/snacks, etc. Unfortunately this Amazon Basics 2-in-1 Dandruff Shampoo/Conditioner is one of the few products I would not purchase again. While the product does seem effective at controlling dandruff, the low lathering aspect combined with an oddly 'chemical' oily feel of the shampoo leaves me with a very neutral perspective on future use. YMMV based on body chemistry and perspective.

A very good shampoo that's the exact same quality as all store brands, but much better priced and has a better size combined with the price.
