Before I got a dog, I preferred to use the front porch in the afternoon, especially in the warmer months, because the sun is setting behind my house. But now with a dog, it's much easier to use the back porch, because of how the fence is set up. The front porch isn't safe for my dog, and if I was there without him, he'd be unhappy.This sunshade will extend when I can use the back porch. My porch rail posts are nearly 8 feet apart, and the space from porch to soffit is nearly 8 feet. I was able to attach the brackets about an inch and a half from the edge of the back of two posts.You can use the chain to roll the blind up or down however you like. You do not need to take it all the way down to bring it back up, which was one of my worries.It includes everything you need. The end result looks nice. It is pretty lightweight, but seems sturdy enough for most uses. in full sun, enough light still gets through the fabric to create shadows. It reduces the sun greatly, but there is still some sun. I wonder what the SPF equivalent is. i would guess it's a bit lower than a t-shirt.In my use case, it is exposed to wind. Because of that, I would not leave it down when not in use any more than possible, in case there are sudden strong gusts of wind when I'm not watching.It has a fastener at the bottom that keeps it from flapping too much in light breezes.My only complaint is that it's set up for the chain to raise and lower it to go on the right side. I wanted to put it on the left. The directions sort of said how to do this, but without much detail. i tried to remove three screws from a disc to rotate the disc on the bracket, but one screwhead stripped. i decided to just mount the chain on the right side for now. If you are OK with the chain being on the right, this is not an issue.

They are fabulous! I can now sit on my front porch early afternoon and early evening so I am not blinded by the sun! The quality is top of the line, and I love the privacy when I want it! Mine are the crank, I like better than the pull cord! They look so nice when approaching my house, plus it helps to protect my high dollar front door from the blistering sun!! Highly recommend! You can still see out and the breeze comes thru beautifully!

Love this and glad we bought it. Great quality--horible instructions. Some of this is put together but wow, add 4 more words and stop saying see #5 for this when there is no #5. But if you predrill going into a side wall, it works. And measuring works great. I didn't use their screws do to going into concrete board but they would work.I do love the blind but also wish there were 3 hold down for the bottom instead of 2 for the 7.5' blind. This makes a world of difference for the sun on our porch.Highly recommend. But instructions are weird. Giving it a 4 star.

We have a 12’x28’sunroom and solarium west facing with bright afternoon to dusk sun. These were perfect in appearance and price. Purchased 3 96”x72” shades that were shy 1” of width of window but work perfectly for diffusing and cooling the room 20 degrees easily. Over 96” would have required custom which was insane for an added inch in fabric. Very happy. I read the instructions and each window took about 20 minutes per shade working solo, so it was an easy task. Only negative is in unrolling the adhesive wrap on ends the tape removed the paint from the lower metal support bar on all three shades, but since it’s on the underside I let it go as not worth the hassle of packing and returning. I’m sure the company customer service will do something. Worth the overall investment.

Although it was a good quality and value, it was not a good fit for our home.

The patio shade is well engineered and worked perfect. It was to long for my application so I took a sawzall and cut 6 inches off one end and worked perfect. I did wrap in duct tape where I cut so it cut smoother.

The shade arrived several days early, which was nice. It is light-weight and not too difficult to install. The instructions are pretty good, but they lack measurement information to place the roller end brackets. It comes down to measure twice and install once (or in my case - install twice).I needed my wife's assistance to hold one end while I adjusted the other end, but it was up in about 20 minutes.The chain drive seems pretty sturdy and easy to use. Mine is installed on a east facing open deck, so it doesn't have a window for support or wind protection. Obviously, this has to be monitored when breezes pick up.

This item does what it needs. It helps black out the sun on the porch.
