I purchased this when the muller I use every day for 45 years fell and broke. It was difficult to find the right size base diameter and handle that I needed for the replacement. One that I purchased from Jerry's, before going to Amazon, had a base that was not even ground nor flat. It was useless. So, I finally turned to Amazon after a week or two searching elsewhere. I chose this muller because the other mullers on Amazon were too small for my purpose or had a handle that was too short. This one has a base a little under 3 inches in diameter. That is a typical size for a traditional muller. They also make them in smaller sizes which are prominently displayed on Amazon. It takes a little longer to find this one. This muller arrived quickly. It is similar to what I purchased 45 years ago in NYC. It is flattened and the base is properly ground. That is essential. The diameter and handle were as described and work for the different applications that I use it for: mixing pigment with oil to make paint and I also use it every day to grind breakfast egg shells which I then mix with compost to add calcium carbonate to the garden. The base is the perfect size to grind shells inside an old yoghurt container. It helps to have a layer of ground shells underneath as you grind new shells. The longer you grind and harder to press the finer the pieces become. The only design issue I would change is that the handle and base could be heavier. In other words it would have a thicker handle and thicker base. I would also make the handle thicker where it joins the base, instead of thinner to reinforce the joint. Heavier is better when mixing it grinding. I found the handle a bit delicate for my medium size hands. But it works, and it was the closest I found anywhere to match the one I purchased in the 1980s. Shipping was astonishingly fast and reasonable. I am not an Amazon Prime member and used standard shipping which arrived in a little under 4 days. For my needs this was the only one I found that would have worked. And the others had prices that ranged from 45 -171 dollars. They bragged about hand made, etc etc. One was even named after the NYC store where I bought my first muller 45 years ago. I'm afraid the original owners would be very upset if they saw what was shipping with their name on it! So, Amazon gets 4 stars for a good product, 5 stars for excellent price and shipping. All descriptions were accurate.

Shipping was delayed and when the item finally arrived - it was used with a couple of small damage spots. . It may still function as intended but is pretty disappointing.

Bottom isn't smooth. Returned and received another with the same problem.

The surface is not ground evenly.

This is a very nice glass muller for mixing pigments for paints.

It was as described. The only thing I would change is the size. I would prefer it to be smaller, since I will be mixing small amounts of paint. A smaller sized muller, would insure less waste. This is not the seller's fault, because the item description was accurate. But if they do sell a smaller size, I would appreciate it if they would contact me.
