Highly recommend using to cut newborn fingernails.
I purchased this item based on other reviews. I initially was given a care kit for my son that include items such as a nail clipper, scissors, files etc. I thought that the set would be perfect for cutting my newborn son's nails. I found that the nail clippers were simply to large for his nails, the scissors were not sharp enough and would simply just bend his nails, and the nail file pretty much did not do anything. The nail file seemed to irritate him more than anything else. I needed a way to cut my son's fingernail effectively since he constantly would scratch his face. Based on some research, I found these scissors. When I got them and tried them, they work like a charm. The depth of the scissors is much more thin so I could fold his nail on top of the scissors and trim his finger nails with ease. They were also sharper in a sense that they cut through his soft nails without bending them. They are smaller in size which is perfect for a newborn. I also like the fact that it came with a protected cover, so later when he becomes mobile, it is at least some sort of protection if he ever gets his hands on them. These scissors were definitely the lifesaver when it came to trimming my baby's nails.

no more accidents
Even though my pediatrician had alerted me that he'd seen more accidents with nail clippers than with baby scissors, I thought I was doing fine with the clippers. until my baby made a sudden move with her hand while I was trimming her thumb nail and 'voila', I accidentally took a piece of her sensitive flesh and it bled, and it hurt, she cried tears and screamed. I made a pledge to never use clippers again and to search for the best and safest baby scissors. When I found these I ordered them because she was going too many days without nail trimming and she was scratching herself with sharp baby nails. I didn't see a review so I wasn't sure if it was good. At first I thought it was a little expensive but I needed it soon so there was no time to browse longer. The minute these scissors got here I used them and have used them ever since to keep her nails nicely trimmed. It is the BEST 10 bucks I've spent on baby stuff. The scissors are slightly bend forming a little curve (very slightly) which helps with angle. No need to say, the ends are round. It is sharp, much better than the clippers. I notice that the clippers left some kind of 'nail residue', like you needed to finish with sanding the nails. These scissors cut nicely and easily. And I feel safer using them. They come with a protection case cap, which is cute and keeps the metal away from moist and all. I highly recommend this product. You still have to be careful trimming baby's nails, of course. But to me, this is safer and gives me a well finished job.

The perfect nail scissors for little ones and the grown-ups
I bought these scissors largely on the basis of reviews that talked about how popular this brand is in Japan. Now I see why! The scissors are all together, adorable, and come with a little protective safety. You can keep on the sharp part of the scissors. Not that they are terribly Pointed anywhere โ โ that after all is the main reason for the rounded tips. But they cut beautifully, for both children, and adults. Just a very handy tool to have around the house โ โ and lightweight and colorful to boot. I personally donโt like to use straight edged scissors, I feel like thereโs much more control over the curved tips, so Iโm very happy to have these. Highly recommend.

From my very first use, easier than clippers...
I had read that scissors were safer than clippers for babies. I was skeptical because I had never heard of nail scissors. After having a baby, I tried using clippers once. No blood, but I was terrified of accidentally clipping those tiny fingers (even on a sleeping baby!). It was hard for me to see what I was doing. The edges were rough, and it was hard to file the paper thin nails. I ordered these because they were inexpensive and had good reviews. I figured I might as well try them. These are AMAZING. One of my favorite unexpected products. I give/recommend them to friends that are pregnant for the first time now. Pros: 1. Easy to see exactly where you're cutting. 2. Curved a little, so easy to cut a good shape. 3. So easy to use. Way easier for me to use than clippers. I was surprised that they didn't require a learning curve. I didn't feel nervous about accidentally cutting my baby. I'm sure it could still happen, but I think it would be much, much harder. 4. They cut extremely smoothly. Even after a year of using them, I never need a file. 5. The toddler likes watching me use them. I just count the fingernails out loud as I'm cutting them, and the toddler patiently watches with almost no squirming. Cons: 1. Just like clippers, it is possible to cut too close to the skin (i.e. to cut off too much nail). So that's not really a con, but something to watch out for. I think these are easier to use than clippers though, because you can see exactly where you're cutting. 2. Maybe it's just the circles I am in, but I don't know why baby nail scissors aren't more well known!

Great and safe!
These nail scissors are wonderful! Talking with new moms, one of the most common questions is how everyone cuts their babies fingernails. No one wants to knick their babies! Many people recommend simply biting your babies fingernails, but that just didn't work with me. Baby nails are paper thin, and I had a hard time even telling if I had it between my teeth. I really didn't want to use regular clippers (even baby sized ones) but those are the most common things in stores. I don't think they give enough visibility. I knew I wanted scissors, but I closely examined the few that were available in stores... at least as best as I could through the packaging. I thought they all looked less than perfect, a little jagged or rough around the edges, like a razor that needs to be thrown away. So when I found these, and saw the positive reviews I had to try them. And they are excellent! They are nice and sharp, but the tip is rounded so you won't accidentally poke your baby with them. The case snaps on, so even if your baby gets them in his or her hands for a minute they won't likely be able to take the case off. This is just a great product, and I couldn't be happier.

Sharp and precise
Our baby was scratching his face with his nails a lot, but when we put gloves on him they'd end up soaked in drool. Traditional nail cutters for babies are essentially adult clippers with a molded rubber handle. No real safety features there. I was already looking for alternatives but didn't buy these soon enough, baby had an accident with a set of cheap "baby" clippers that got him cut. These scissors have a rounded tip for safety, and are slightly curved, but be warned the edges are otherwise razor sharp. (I tested them on my own fingernail first). I however like the added control over traditional cutters. Traditional nail cutters make you press down hard to make the cut, but if baby's skin happens to get caught in that there's no backtracking until it's too late. With these scissors you can make sure to get between the nail and the finger, but for added safety we tend to shave off little bits of nail at a time instead of cutting the whole thing at once, while he's sleeping off a bottle. Overall these work great. Again, be careful as these are incredibly sharp but that makes it easier to get the task done before baby wakes up.

Excellent alternative to clippers
I found these to be MUCH easier to use for our baby's tiny nails than the standard baby clippers. One of the nurses at the hospital said she prefers scissors for baby nail trimming and I thought she was nuts. However, after the first horrifying finger nick with standard baby clippers (which are just too big for baby fingers even through they're for baby fingers...), I bought these. I could not believe how easy nail trimming was with these. The blades are definitely sharp, so beware. They allow you to be very precise though. I NEVER nicked baby's fingers with these. Our "baby" is now 16 months and I still use these, along with the standard baby clippers. I would give it 5 starts but they sent the wrong scissors the first time around. It was rectified in usual, quick Amazon fashion.

Great baby nail scissors!
I initially ordered a pair of these when I was preparing for the birth of my now 3 year old. I then ordered another pair for my now 1.5 year old. If you are looking for nail scissors, I can't imagine a better pair. They are cute to look at. The blades are gently curved to help follow the curve of a nail. The ends of the scissors have a rounded safety edge so that there is no sharp point. The scissors slip nicely into the safety cover (note that the safety cover will not stay on if your baby learns how to pull the scissors out, but that is something that seems to be difficult for the little ones to do until they hit toddler age.) I will ask my baby to hold the cover for me while I clip his/her nails, which helps distract them for a few minutes at least! I know some people have a very difficult time with scissors and prefer clippers, but I find that these offer me the right about of control so that I feel safer cutting small nails with these than with little clippers.
