Planking Boards
First time ever using an "Alaskan Chainsaw Mill." Setup wasn't terrible. Had to watch some videos online but was pretty easy. Of note: make sure you have a rail system for the first board, to remove the outer rough cut board. This kit did not come with those mounting brackets, but this same brand offers them. Ordered, and it worked great. One thing I found out quickly and was new to me (even though everyone I talked too who has used this style of mill, said "Yes, that is an issue" is that you lose a lot of the cutting width. I was running a 20" bar on a Stihl 311 and by the time you add the saw to the mill, the brackets and how it mounts takes up about 4 inches of your cutting length leaving you with a max cut of 16". I ended up having to purchase a 25 inch bar and new ripping chains. With the 25" bar, I was able to slab boards under 20" in width. Ideally, a 36 inch bar would be better but my Stihl 311 would be very unhappy with that much chain. Overall, really love this product. Well built, sturdy, and works. Only complaint would be with all of the track extension set screws. These will vibrate out of their hole quite easily and I am going to use some lightweight locktite to help the screws stay in place. Recommend this product.

Works great! No need for anything else!
Works awesome with my Husqvarna Rancher 460 24in bar. Made nice heavy duty log bench in a couple hours. The brackets takes away some of your cutting width, I might not have it adjusted perfectly, but can only cut about a 17in diameter log with a 24in bar. Comes with extensions to make it cut bigger logs with larger saws too.

Did the job and more to come!
This mill is well built with just a couple of quirks that I can easily get over. So far, Iโve milled a few oak logs and a couple maple combined with a Husqvarna Rancher 460 with a 24โ bar and Forester ripping chain. If you take your time, everything runs great and Iโd guess it goes about 1โ / 1-1.5 minutes. Use your wedges in the back of the log once you are clear enough and then side wedges every few feet. Also, pay attention to your markings on the depth gauge. I installed mine in opposite directions, so I have to look around one side or the other to match them up. Overall, I like the kit and know I can run a bigger saw, if I get one! Definitely recommend this Alaskan mill. Pros: Stable / wide platform that keeps cuts level and tracking well. Lightweight frame, but solid backing for the saw. Easy to adjust cut height with your standard chainsaw wrench. Brackets for the first cut work well, if your logโs end cut is fairly square. Cons: Plastic handled bolts for holding handle and end brace vibrate out. Iโd recommend some blue loctite on these and nuts that wonโt be adjusted. Handle is awkward to use. I wish it was upright, like most other mill kits. I might add a clamp on handle for that purpose. One the second cut and beyond, you have to make sure you start level, or the back of the guide will bind when it gets on the log.

Surprisingly Well Built
I have used this kind of "sawmill" before and that one was very difficult to setup and use. The workmanship on this sawmill is very nice and the materials are perfect for the build. I am surprised at this level of quality for this price, my expectations were much lower. Now, as to how well it works, it works as expected, but realize, any device like this carrying a chainsaw beneath it is unwieldy. It takes a lot of time and a ton of effort, much more than a "real" sawmill, but it works if you stick with it. We cut up a 20" diameter x 10' long Elm log. It took all day and pretty much wiped me out, but we got there and the result was very good.

Zozen is simple and easy to use. The tool pack is super helpful.
I have a pretty massive tree that went down and i bought this to slab up my old growth wipe pine. i used an extension ladder for the first cut and a Stihl 066 with a 32" blade. I also bought the extension kit so i can put my 46" bar and chain on when i get lower on the tree. The Zozen went together quickly and wasn't missing any parts. I prepped the tree for the first cut 9' long by about 26" wide cut which went smooth. Then I set the depth to 2 1/2", and made another pass, filled up with gas about half way through, and should have filled up with bar oil, i was out then done with the second cut. Saw was a beast, and the mill did its job perfectly. i inspected it after and no bolts loosened up. I did make sure they were tight before starting. I will be using the extension this weekend towards the bottom of the tree. I would reccomend 2 people to run it, at least for larger trees.

Used every day
My husband has used this everyday since we received it. He absolutely loves it. It works great for him. We are cutting trees off of our property, using this to make planks and then making beautiful pieces of woodworking with them. He had no complaints on putting it together, it is light enough that I can pick it up and move it. It seems sturdy, and has not caused him any accidents yet. I am overall pleased with my purchase.

Poor design
The quality of this product is good but I just think itโs a poor design. The clamps that hold it to the bar of the saw are either too tight that the blade wonโt move because itโs bound or theyโre too loose that the bar moves. And when it moves it's not only unsafe but the blade can hit a bolt (like happened in my case) and dull the blade instantly. Some of the bolts are hard to reach as well. You end up spending more time adjusting everything than actually cutting wood. If you have an 18โ chainsaw, the maximum size log you will be able to cut is about 13 inches.

A Decent Cheap Chainsaw Mill
It's not a Granberg, but for what it is and the price it's a good buy. It's built well enough to mill with, but I'd still be very careful not to drop it or bang it against anything TOO hard considering the modular construction. I've done over 1000 bdft of live edge slabs so far without major issues. I would locktite all the allen nuts that go in the extensions and get them good and tight. Careful not to OVER tighten the clamp bars, as you can bend them. Same for the height adjust, too tight and you'll dent the steel square tubing. It's not hard to do if using an impact.

Not worth the money
100% unless product. Doesn't work. Holds the saw fine but not able to keep it straight making it dig in to the wood and bind in the first 20cm. Tried may different Saws and setups but ended up going back to free handed as its was so much more accurate then wasting your time and money with this product.

Best Value on the market
After researching many mills, I found Zozen's to have the best value, simplicity and expandability options. It was easy to assemble, holds the chainsaw bar very well (no slippage) and the height adjustment is bang on and does not slip either. I've been using it now for a few months as a weekend warrior and have had great results. I don't normally post reviews, but felt it necessary to share my experience. The video I posted is nothing special, though this is last cut before the mishap with the height bracket as shown in the picture. While tightening the height nuts, this bracket snapped in half. (ignore my pathetic attempt to weld it back together) I'm here to complain or bash the product, I'm here to say Zozen really stands behind it's products. After sending a note through Amazon to Zozen on a Sunday, totally expecting not to hear back until the work week, Zozen replied on SUNDAY within a couple of hours. By the end of day on SUNDAY, they worked out a satisfactory solution and I'll be back up working again soon. Not only is this product of great value, quality and design, the manufacturer provides outstanding customer service. What more could you want from anything we purchase in today's mind field of disposal and crappy products. If you are looking for a chainsaw mill, look no further, buy from Zozen. I will be exploring their other products and see if I need anything else they sell.
