Great automatic pool vac/time saver
After putting off an automatic pool vac for a few years, this was a purchase I am happy I finally made. Considered getting the float-around style, but those need a booster pump. Considered getting a suction-side model, but reviews are mixed, and seem to have a lot of maintenance and not very good cleaning coverage, especially sides or angled bottom. Then, saw this and decided it looked best, for several reasons: simplicity, doesn’t need any additional pumps, and reviews were mostly good.Pool: we have an in-ground, vinyl-lined, kidney shaped pool with 45-degree angled sides to the bottom in the deep end, fiberglass steps in shallow.Performance so far: one word, AMAZING.Very easy setup, and very easy to get running every time (1-2 minutes to get started). The unit is electric powered, but the cable is super-kink resistant (very high grade silicone cord…they did not cheap out), floats, and plugs into the control unit, which plugs into standard 110V. The unit sinks, you press start, and walk away. Or stay for the show, and the confused beagles barking at it…it’s all good! Auto-shut off, and easily pulls back to surface and out of the pool after about an hour.It drives itself around, has hit all of the pool surfaces except steps and behind ladder. It really climbs the walls to the surface, scrubs a few seconds, then goes back under for more.Once done, pulling the filter basket out is rapid and easy, and comes clean with a hose to backwash it. Basket is a pretty fine mesh - better than cheesecloth we use in the kitchen. Catches most everything debris-wise, even got the black-bird droppings they deposit in our pool. Not sure what they have against me, but this thing even gets that stuff. Only thing it didn’t get was a phosphate-removal treatment, but that “jelly-stuff” needs vacuum to waste, this would not be expected to clean it.Other than my first spring vacuum to waste, I no longer expect to have to vacuum throughout the season - this is doing the job, and way, way easier. Really wish I had bought it sooner…I will never get that time back.If you are on the fence, hope this helps push you over. Sorry for draining your wallet, but it will pay for itself in time not spent walking around your pool with your pole in your hands…cheers!

A solid 4
Let me start by saying I don’t like pools but my wife won and so we have one. I also don’t like pool equipment or pool robots. They all break and so I’m constantly spending money on repairs or replacements. When our Polaris 280 broke for the third time and the pool guy kept saying it was fixed but it didn’t suck anything up, I gave up and started researching another pool robot. I went to CES where I saw some awesome displays of the latest in technology robots with all of the bells and whistles, I researched on Amazon and Google, I asked our pool guy and our neighbors what robot they had and would they recommend it. None of the responses instilled any confidence that there was a unit that stood out from all of the rest, which in my eyes is reliable and at a good price. I found most responses pushing me towards $1200+ units, which sounded stupid to me, so I decided to go with my gut and get the Polaris Neo. Honestly, I wanted to hate this thing. I was mad that my pool was a mess and my old Polaris was sitting in the pool literally doing nothing. So here is my experience…First time I used it I was pissed. The unit just kept doing the same pattern in the deep end of the pool. After two hours the deep end looked great and the shallow end hadn’t been touched. When I read the directions I did exactly what it told me to do which was place the cord at the midway point of the pool. This was bad advice. The second time I used it I moved the cord to about 50% further into the shallow end. That did the trick. The total pool got cleaned. I needed to move some of the debris more into the middle of the pool in the far edges of the shallow and deep ends but for the most part it sucked everything up, which included pine straw, leaves, grass and dirt/sand. My feelings for the unit turned from hate to pleasantly satisfied.I’m still concerned about the longevity of this thing but if I have one issue I’ll update my review.ProsSucks up debris of most sizes. Doesn’t always get the pine straw.Cord is long enough for a 40 ft pool.Cleaner gets up the walls.ConsCord does twist so you’ll need to straighten every now and then.It is heavy to get out of the water so if you’re not strong I would avoid.Would I recommend - Yes - It’s a solid 4

worked great until it didn't
Purchased this robot back in July 2022. it worked great and is very easy to clean until a few weeks ago when it just stopped working. It seems to be an issue with the power box but my biggest issue is that I cannot get Polaris to even acknowledge my request for help. I have emailed numerous times in the last 2 weeks and all I get is an automated response telling me I will hear back within 72 hours but so far nothing. I would love to have this robot fixed but at this point just want my money back. Very disappointed with Polaris and probably will not purchase any of their products again based on the lack of support and response i have gotten from them.Update: So over a month later and all Polaris finally told me was I could take it to an authorized dealer and they could check it out for me. After two more weeks of waiting they said it would be $800 to repair. This piece of junk is only $557 to buy new right now. What an absolute joke. I went ahead and bought a different brand robot and will steer clear of anything Polaris in the future.Another update since I just finally took this piece of crap to the dump. Never was even acknowledged by Polaris. At this point just an I’m sorry our stuff is crap would be satisfactory but I guess will never happen. If you want 9-12 months out of a pool robot you can definitely find cheaper options. Good luck
