Amazing for dry eye
I started taking 12 mg capsule a day in preparation of summer beach trips and a family vacation for sun burn prevention. To my surprise, within 2 weeks my dry eye condition was feeling much better. Seriously, I've taking supplements that I don't really notice any difference, but with Astaxanthin, wow. My eye doctor puts plugs in my tear ducts every 4-5 months to keep tears from draining and keep moisture on the eye. I was approaching the 6 month mark since my last plugs and just happened to have an appointment the 3rd week of dosage. Before I had a chance to mention it, he commented that my dry eye was much improved. I told him what I was taking and he said it helps with night vision as well and to keep taking it. I asked what he thought about dosage and he said he's read anywhere from 8-20 mg for eye health and that research is still emerging. This is an excellent product from Jarrow, but I finished the bottle and did some comparison shopping. I now use BioAstin 12 mg and am just as happy with that brand at a much lower cost. PS I can't really say for sure if it prevents sunburn... haven't gone on vacation yet where I'll get a ton of sunshine. I have been to the beach, but I still use sunscreen. Haven't been burned.

Works wonderfully
*UPDATE AT BOTTOM* I have had this supplement for a couple months but just hadn't taken it. I had researched Astaxanthin and was eager to try it but I take so many other supplements it got pushed to the side. Lucky for me, I had it right when I needed it. A few years ago, I wasn't paying attention to my puppy when she decided to tap me for attention and I took a paw to the eye. My eye never healed correctly and quite frequently (in the dead of sleep) the weakened cornea will re-rip. It is very painful and flat out miserable. Nothing I had found worked well for recurrent corneal erosion. Needless to say, it's no fun. About three weeks ago, I woke up reliving the same nightmare. A torn cornea. That morning I was taking Motrin when I noticed the Astaxanthin and wondered if just maybe... so I started taking it that day. I have diligently taken it daily since then. It has been a few weeks and my eye has not torn in that time - which is a really long stretch for me. I am not only please but also curious if others have experienced the same. I didn't find much in the way of researching recurrent corneal erosion and Astaxanthin. But for me, these last three weeks have been lovely. I have already ordered a different brand to try for next time to see if there is a notable difference between naturally occurring Astaxanthin and lab made. I do know three weeks is not a 'long time' in the grand scheme of things but for me it really is unusual. The only thing that has changed in that time is taking this supplement. Update 12/11/2017 After finishing the original bottle, I switched brands to test and see if another form worked better. Despite following the dosage perfectly, after four days of a different brand, I woke up at 3 am with another corneal tear. The miserably painful eye ripping continued weekly (sometimes multiple times a week) until I could place another order. All brands are not made equally and I am convinced that this pill absolutely strengthens my eye to prevent tearing. I ordered another two bottles and will not be caught without it again. Since resuming Jarrow's Astaxanthin I have not had another corneal tear. As long as Jarrow does not change the formula, I will not stop taking this. Although I was not expecting it to repair the damage to my sight caused by years damage, I am slowly starting to realize a change in my vision. (Emphasis on slowly, the sight in my left eye was severely beat up from constant ripping on the surface of the eye.) This really is something incredible. I hope this review helps anyone suffering from recurrent corneal erosion. (Or eye issues in general.)

The Krill supplement (to my Omega 3 I use daily is Barlean's - an excellent brand) contains 100mcg of Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin is found in Omega 3 and Krill oils. The Krill supplement (to my Omega 3 I use daily is Barlean's - an excellent brand) contains 100mcg of Astaxanthin, which is known to boost energy, be helpful with joint maintenance, and a veritable plethora of other good stuff. To take advantage of a good thing, I added Jarrow "12mcg" (micrograms) of Astaxanthin to my diet. All I've read points to great health and energy benefits, so now it's part of the supplements I take daily. Feeling great...I can't tell you it's not in there doing some good. To Happiness & Health. surprising
i began taking astaxanthin because i heard it helps protect skin from UV damage. after less than a week, i noticed i was shedding less hair. normally my hair clogs the drain when i shower and the drain cover has to be cleared several times during the course of a single shower. after only a few days of taking astaxanthin i was losing less than half of the hair i normally do every day. i should note that my hair isn't thinning or balding, i just happen to shed more than most people. astaxanthin somehow keeps more hair on my head so i think it's a great multi-benefit supplement. i have only tried this brand so i can't compare it to others, but it seems to work for me.

Helps!
I have been using for sometime and I'm at the age of having to have readers. After taking this with my daily vitamins, I can tell a difference. I don't need my readers as much.

It works - been buying it for a year.
Jarrow is a reputable brand. BE SURE TO GET THE 12 MG....I buy it instead of Hawaiian Astaxanthin brand because it's more affordable and seems to have the same quality...I love this and cannot do without it...along with my Multiple when I can't afford much else...It works!..... I found out about Astaxanthin about a year ago from a health show I listen to Gateway To Vibrant Health with Valerie Hall. I was mainly interested in it because of the benefits to eyes. (she said she keeps having to buy glasses that are less strong because her eyes are getting better....I've found this too but not buying new glasses.)....Also, the other benefit is that the little bit of grey hair I was getting is going away. It's good for the body in general too. (I buy my supplements from Vitacost com because their products are 40 to 60% less than retail and seem to always have a 10% off coupon on top of that...they ship fast without paying extra and have great customer service.

Too Pokey, We can't use it, but quality is good
It was challenging to know how to star- rate this product. The product seems well made, is very cute, and is as described. I purchased this for my husband, as an anniversary gift. He has tension in his trapezius muscles - upper back/neck. The pokey spikes irritated his skin too much, even when he wore a sport shirt or two layers. I went to return it and found that I had just missed the 30 day return policy since I purchased two weeks before our anniversary. I've tried to use it myself... maybe I can get used to it. But, that's a weird take for a product.. buy it to see if you can LEARN to TOLERATE IT. Hmmmm For us, I think this would be better if the spikeys were sanded down a bit so they were more pressure point without coming so close to breaking the skin. [note, they haven't actually broken our skin, but when you are getting into position as you're laying down it feels like you might at the areas that touch down first] I'd say most people are going to have a similar experience as us unless your meditation practice has already evolved. I like the logic behind this device, about increasing circulation - I originally learned about it through Dave Asprey's Bulletproof - either book or website. He was selling a version of this for quite a bit more $$.

It's a personal superman.
It keeps me , somehow, intact. Like if I eat something bad, or get a cold , or go on a field trip thats particularly disruptive to my body, it somehow keeps things from getting too bad. I am in love with this product.

I've only been using it for 20 days - haven't noticed any benefits yet, but I will buy at least another month's supply and update my feedback after.
