Great, economical easy fix if you don't want to install a mini-split
Well this thing is great and I only wish it had arrived one day earlier. Next heat wave, we'll be ready! It has been running all day and I'm pleased with the build quality. The design, I have some minor doubts about and I discuss those at the end. The operation is very simple. It's got a fan speed button (high/low) which controls the noise level. There is a set-temperature control which ranges between 32 ยฐC and 16 ยฐC. And there is a Mode control (Cool/Dry/Fan). I have only used Cool mode, and I've attached a diagram showing how cooling works. It's effortlessly chilled a bedroom room of about 25-30 Square metres, and I think it could manage a larger space. I like the Alecome ALC-PAC-8000 for three reasons: 1) The R290 is one of the best refrigerants. It is just propane, so nothing exotic or toxic. 2) The build quality is good, and 3) it includes the casement window interface. It is also easy to move from room to room. Moisture will be collected from the air as a part of the chilling process. The water is evaporated and ejected with the exhaust air instead of collected in a tank. The product description doesn't show it, but the device also comes with a water drain hose in case you have a place to dispose of water downward. There is a rubber stopper on the base that can be pulled, and the hose attached. If you were to do that, it would save a little further energy. The ductwork takes a little bit of setup and the device comes with two window interfaces. You expand and screw the 15cm diameter hose onto both of its end connectors. The small rectangle connector slides onto the exhaust port; and the large oval connector clips into the window frame interface board like a lego piece. If you have a sliding window, then you'd fill in the rectangular interface board into the gap, and you'd be done. If you have a window with a hinge opening on the other hand, like I do, then you have the crafty tent adapter. It doesn't look great but it does make a good air seal against the elements. I found the instructions a little confusing so I attached them here as a photo, as well as took a video. In short, you need to velcro the three non-hinged sides of the window and the three matching sides of the frame. You need to work out where to add the velcro so that you can still use the window handle and be able to open and close the window. Now I'll talk about my issues with this design. If you look to my diagram, you'll see there are two fan-driven airflows. The first airflow is room air across the chiller, and exhausted again as cool air - in my case around 11ยฐC! My only issue with this airflow is the intake point, notice how I have my unit set up on the floor so that the exhaust hose climbs right past the intake? That means slightly warmer air is entering than true room air. I think that throws off the thermostat, and causes the unit to cool the room to colder than the set-point. If you were to set this up with the exhaust going away to the side, or down low, you wouldn't have this small problem. But in my mind, Design Flaw #1 is that the 36-37ยฐC exhaust hose is not insulated, and so the longer it stretches within the interior space the more it re-radiates heat back into the cooled room. The second airflow is Design Flaw #2: ambient air is removed from the room, heated up and sent to the outside. This means that removed air needs to be replaced from somewhere. Warm exterior air will be sucked into the house to replace that air, and that's a moderate amount of energy wasted in my opinion. The third design flaw is also evident in the thermal image I've attached. Although the top half of the unit is cool, the bottom half of the unit is warm and also radiates a little heat from the sides. This is inherent in the fact that the compressor is kept indoors, the very space we are trying to cool. Design Flaw #3 is simply a consequence of having a single piece design. A mini-split design would put the compressor outside where it belongs, but of course that complicates the installation as you'd have to drill a hole and then also have the refrigerant added after making the connections. For Design Flaw #1, I'll plan to replace the 150mm hose with a self-insulated type. For Design Flaw #2, there is no solution, unless I'd want to fit a duct onto the lower front of the unit. I think I'd sooner have a mini-split installed. For Design Flaw #3, you could attach some foil bubble insulation around the two lower sides. Or, maybe it could be added to the inside of the plastic housing?

Nice cool bedroom
Took a chance as there were no other reviews but glad I did Have had it for two days and in the current U.K. heatwave Iโve had a lovely cool bedroom to sleep in. Cools the room reasonably quickly. The window seal kit that came with it was better than the usual ones as this actually fits the kind of windows we have in a lot of homes in the U.K. So far the only downside is that it is quite loud, but as I sleep with earplugs in it doesnโt disturb me and I canโt actually put my blind down because of the pipe going out of the window, luckily I have curtains as well so can at least still cover the window at night Would definitely recommend this unit if you are struggling with the heat and need at least one room to escape to thatโs cool

Acceptable for normal use without considering the noise
Great reduction of the room temperature but it is so noisy. also, some water leakage at the bottom even the water outlet is closed

Coolio!
Bought this unit recently with a view to staying cooler than last year after the temperature soared into 40. Tested it last weekend 20/06/23 when it hit 30, both my living room and kitchen stayed cool all day it was a joy!! It is no more noisy than air con in a Holiday hotel abroad and I slept comfortably with it on. The window vent curtain was a bit fiddly but got there in the end. Instructions are clear and the remote control is also good....Happy :-)

Defective
07-Jul-2023 11:42 Receive my order today. On inspection noticed damage to the back of the unit, now as far as I can tell the unit is working ok, however I would like to know if I need to send it back or if they have another solution. Thank you, no answer from seller. This is scary because if i use it as it is may course problems healthwise.

Perfect on a hot day!
Really impressed, this is half the price of my other unit and just so much better. As expected they are a little noisy, but i really donโt mind the background noise.

Good value, effective air con
At 8000BTU this is a great little unit for the price (ยฃ250) and cools our medium sized living room really well. Have only needed it on low setting, and it is less noisy than another unit we have.

Brilliant
Bought this for my husbands tourer as the heat was unbearable when he got in from work, within minutes the van had cooled down.
