Interior designer Nicolò Castellini Baldissera and fashion and interiors photographer Guido Taroni offer a privileged glimpse into the homes of Milan’s foremost creative residents. Inside Milan ventures behind closed doors in this unique cultural capital that is renowned as a world leader in fashion, design, art, and industry. In this beautifully photographed book, icons such as Veronica and Jacopo Etro, Martina Mondadori, JJ Martin, and Barnaba Fornasetti reveal why they call this notoriously elusive city home. From sophisticated clean lines and muted tones to rooms bursting with art and color, the palazzos and apartments showcased in this stunning volume uncover the creative heart of this vibrant and cosmopolitan metropolis. Nicolò Castellini Baldissera’s carefully curated collection of interiors features the homes of an array of leading creatives of Milan society, including—in addition to the aforementioned—artist Lola Schnabel; designers Hannes Peer, Emiliano Salci, and Osanna Visconti; and fashion designer Luisa Beccaria, among others. With a cloth binding featuring an original Fornasetti drawing, gilded embossed type, and masterful color photographs by Guido Taroni, Inside Milan provides rare insights into the Milanese lifestyle. Review: Design Book that is real! - I buy a lot of interior design books and most are beautiful in content and as books, but few have interiors that really look as if people live in them. They are many times over staged, removed of any hint that an actual human being inhabits the space, more an advert for products or the interior designer. This one is different- I believe that humans do live and love and have history in these spaces. I admit I tend to find that more frequently in European design books than American books. We, I think want more "cookie cutter" design. As long as something is linked with a celebrity, that's what is "in", what is pushed for public consumption.... and the pocket book (do people still know what a "pocket book" is?) Anyway, not to be long winded- I highly recommend this book! And I will leave it at that : ) Review: Great book! - Great book that shows how real people live in Europe....not a decoration book in the strict sense of the word, at least not for the North American concept of decoration. Very European and very relatable.

Don’t waste your money
It’s a collection of interior shots of people’s homes that have no apparent connection to Milan …and all the interiors are similar styles — eg messy, cluttered spaces with tons of collections of various objects. I thought this book would showcase the beautiful Milanese style I saw in my recent visit — it does not. It’s more like a collection of interiors of homes from magazine articles.

Beautiful images and lots of inspiration if you're a maximalist
I ordered this book since it was recommended by several people who are interior designers or design enthusiasts. The book is beautifully compiled with short, memorable stories and truly beautiful images. Since I am more inspired by zen philosophy, Feng shui, creating the feeling of serenity, eclectic minimalism, I found the spaces visually overwhelming. However, if you are a maximalist, this is definitely a book for you.
