can it be used on a 16 ft dingy sail boat?

Hi Don, With a 24" adjustable shaft, it might be too short for your sail boat. To determine the correct shaft length, measure the distance from the mounting spot down to the waterline and add 15". We would recommend taking a look at our 55lb NV-Series motor with a 30" adjustable shaft to allow the correct depth of the propeller. Has anyone used a lifepo4 battery for the 55lb motor ? some say it’s not supposed to use lithium. please answer only if you have experience. thx

I have used the lifep04 battery with this trolling motor and it works great. Have used the motor for atleast 6 hours using speeds 3 to 5. Battery has about 50% left on it when i get back.

can i paddle while the motor is running? (Concerned that the position of the motor will interfere with paddling.) thanks!

Can it power a 12 foot Jon boat with ply wood decking? Recommend type of battery please.

The 50 lb. thrust kayak series motor will push a 12ft John boat easily. The question is whether it has a long enough shaft to fully submerge the propeller. If the propeller is less than foot below the water it will cavitate at the higher power settings. Fully extended my motor is 19" from the mounting clamp (top of the transom) to the center of the propeller. You need to use a deep cycle marine battery, preferably a AGM sealed type of around 75 Amp hours. I am using two 35 Amp batteries wired in series, which after 4 hrs. seems to have plenty of reserve.
