Size:10 lb. GreenView Fairway Formula Seed Success is a combination starter fertilizer & seeding mulch that helps maintain moisture in the planted area, so grass seeds successfully germinate. The paper mulch is completely biodegradable, and is combined with fertilizer, a wetting agent, and special tackifier that helps keep mulch in place to protect the seed while it germinates - even on rainy and windy days, or when seeding a sloped area. Grass seed is not included - you choose the grass seed that best suits your lawn.

UPDATE: This is really making the difference
My first thought was that "gee, this looks like the Lebanon Penn Mulch my lawn guy uses." Turns out Greenview is owned by LebanonTurf! This could be a great product. First, the fertilizer is gentle enough that its unlikely to burn the lawn your trying to fertilize. The idea of being able to choose your own mulch frees me from the Pennington OneStep/Scott's EzSeed, neither of which have the best seed. That said, Lebanon/Greenview has some amazing seed, and I was tempted to just mix this together with Greenview Sun & Shade Mix in my spreader, but I'm not sure if that would actually work.My only issue is that the instructions are unclear. The picture on the bag shows a patch fully covered with mulch, but following the instructions, only 1/4 is actually covered with mulch. And it didn't go on evenly: some parts are very sparse, some parts are more heavily covered. I called to see if I could make it into a mush and the apply it, and the rep told me that it should be sparse and instead I could put topsoil over it to protect it from birds. A video somewhere would help tons! It's going to take about three weeks to see results, but I'm feeling really good about it!!!UPDATE: after just a week, it's starting to germinate. I don't know why people talk about watching grass grow like it's boring!UPDATE:it's really clear how this is making the difference. Places where I used this are sprouting. Places were I didn't are remaining bare. Same seed. It's not perfect:I added too much topsoil, I think, so I have to go back and add more seed, but it's definitely making a huge difference between grass and no grass!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. On May 22, 2020, my contractor finished fencing my backyard and ruined my lawn during the process. I have been trying to grow my lawn since then. I raked, move the soil around, fertilized, watered twice a day and even spread Bermudagrass seeds for southern lawns. I started to notice a very slow growth.Due to the pandemic, hardware stores were closed which made it hard to buy topsoil. That’s when I went on Amazon and saw this product. I saw that they shipped to Puerto Rico and decided to order 3 of the 10lbs bags.On June 18, 2020, I prepared the backyard by cutting the grass as low as 1 inch. Then I watered the lawn to the point that the soil became muddy, spread more Bermudagrass seeds and then covered them with the biodegradable Greenview. I made sure to water at least twice a day (AM & PM). You’ll be surprised how much water the little pellets absorbed and expanded. As soon as June 26, 2020, I began to observe the Bermudagrass peaking through the moistened Greenview. And then, like magic, by July 9, 2020 I had a thick green lawn!I WAS NOT PAID FOR MY REVIEW! I just wanted to share my experience because:1. I was stuck at home due to the pandemic;2. I had the time and patience;3. I’m proud on how my lawn turned-out and I just wanted to show it off 🙂Hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful as well.

Great cover for grass seed
This was a great cover for a large area that I had recently done a deep weed clean out and then seeded. As the package states, it does not contain seed. This product worked great for me. I distributed seed, distributed this mulch, and then watered the heck out of it. The mulch holds water and expands, providing a consistent environment for the seed to effectively germinate. If I have the need, I will definitely order this mulch product again.

HORRIBLE - It will ruin your lawn
This product does NOT dissolve even after mutiple waterings and heavy rainstorms. The product actually expands and looks the same product you put at the bottom of a hamster cage for instance. After MANY weeks of looking at these gray pellets all over my lawn the only way to resolve the problem was to rake them up -- not an easy task since they a small pellets and you end of pulling grass out of the dirt to get them off. It seems to suffocate grass seeds from what I observed on my lawn.

Great for sunny areas
The grass seeds on the bare spots in the sunniest part of the yard germinated in less than 2 weeks and grass is growing nicely with the use of these pellets. They have to be watered at least 2 times a day, early evening and mid-morning for the mulch to expand and cover the newly planted seeds. The fertilizer in the mulch is a plus. I'm happy with this product and will buy it again when needed.

After 2 months, it is still laying there looking like pellets
I thought this stuff would biodegrade and let the grass seed grow through. The spots where I used it still do not have grass. These pellets are still visible. Fortunately the grass around them is starting to overtake this material. Not worth the money.

Stick with the seed. Get fertilizer elsewhere.
I was excited to try this product along with GreenView’s Sun & Shade Tall Fescue mix. While this product worked alright, it did not work as well as a household name brand starter fertilizer (with no mulch) that can be found at all the big box stores. In addition, the big box starter fertilizer included pre-emergent weed killer/preventer. The patch with GreenView Seeding Success grew alright like I said before, but the patch with just the big box starter fertilizer grew thicker and greener. The GreenView patch also grew several weeds while there are ZERO weeds in the other patch. I can also still see the colored pellets from the Seeding Success almost six weeks after it was used and it doesn’t look very nice. I love GreenView seed, but I won’t be buying this again.

Good value, good product, GREAT shipping speed.
This is a difficult product to find on any store shelf. Mulching pellets from Greenview for lawn repairs. A 38-pound bag for about a dollar a pound is a good value especially when it is delivered to your door. The time and petrol you save are worth it even more. It arrived from East Coast Shippers a few days before the scheduled delivery date. A good product from a good company delivered with Prime speed.
