Perfect for a humid hide and my snake loves it

This sphagnum moss is awful. It molds quickly. It's full of sticks. It is just terrible substrate! Save your money, save your time, do not order this. It is no good! I purchased it for plants. I have tried sterilizing it different ways after the first time I used it for trying to propagate, it quickly molded, it's not even good for compost!

Great sphagnum moss overall There was some hints of fern like plants but there was really only two small roots THIS WILL FILL AN ENTIRE HOME DEPOT 5 GALLON BUCKET

Make sure not to use too much, it's definitely makes waaaay more than you'd think 😂

Pretty good but had some debris in it. Mostly small sticks but over all good moss and doesn’t stink or have dyes in it.

Works as intended

I did not care for this moss. It did not hold water evenly, and it was extremely dirty. Had lots of sticks and non moss material in it. I would not buy again or suggest to anyone. It also got moldy? Which I have never had this happen with moss before, but this one had my moss pole covered, it could have killed my plant. 0/10. Gross. Attached is a video of moss that was moist for one day, and has started growing mold on it. I purchased a different brand, higher quality, and this has yet to happen in identical circumstances.

exactly as described, bulks up nicely instantly when soaked in water. I squeezed out the water and dried it in a paper bag before placing some. Although my beardy instantly tried eating it twice which isn't good for them to digest. I removed a lot just covering the bottom so they don't ingest too much. I'm just using this as a placeholder until my desert sand arrives for my new beardy.

Vraiment petit volume

I originally thought this would only make enough for one humid hide for my reptiles, but I was VERY wrong. I only used half a brick to begin with and it was way way too much for what I needed (which I view as a plus because I have extra). I filled two mixing bowls from half the brick of moss! It’s a lot of moss which I appreciate as someone who owns many reptiles and arthropods who require moss in their enclosures. The smell of sphagnum moss makes me very nauseas when it’s wet so if you’re sensory sensitive keep that in mind, but once it dries it doesn’t smell much. I haven’t noticed any bugs in it but will update if I come across any, but there are some small chunks of dirt and the occasional tiny twig. Great value for money!

Da ich eine große Orchideen Liebhaberin bin und es meinen Pflanzen so angenehm wie möglich machen möchte,habe ich meine 8 Orchideen schon vor zwei Jahren von ihrem holzigen Substrat befreit.Direkt nach dem Kauf entferne ich auch die Stäbe.Es entspricht nicht ihrer natürlichen Lebensweise in Töpfe gequetscht,und angebunden zu werden. Wer sich mit der Lebensweise der Phalaenopsis beschäftigt weiß,das sie als Epiphyten oder Aufsitzpflanzen leben, ähnlich unser heimischen Misteln.Allerdings leben die Orchideen anders wie die Misteln in friedlicher Symbiose mit Ihrem Wirtsbaum. Eigentlich geht es ihnen nur ums Licht,deshalb möchten sie so hoch hinaus.Sie nehmen Nährstoffe und Feuchtigkeit ausschließlich über ihre Luftwurzeln auf. Auf der einen Seite benötigen die Wurzel genügend Licht und genügend Feuchtigkeit. Das übliche Orchideen Substrat das Rindenmulch ähnelt, ist also lediglich ein Mittelweg,aber keine dauerhafte Lösung. Orchideen wachsen am Naturstandort im tropischen Regenwald auf Bäumen, dort können ihre Wurzel halt finden,indem sie unter die Rinde wachsen,oder in eine Flechte oder in ein Moos hinein. Keinesfalls wachsen Orchideenstängel nur strack nach oben, sie streben natürlich zum Licht,aber sie wachsen auch mal "kopfüber". Ihr Einfallsreichtum um mit ihren Wurzeln halt zu finden, ist beeindruckend. Jetzt kommt dieses Sphagnum Moos ins Spiel. Angefeuchtet entfaltet es sich und saugt sich voll wie ein Schwamm. Es duftet angenehm,sowohl trocken als auch im feuchten Zustand,es ist unfassbar ergiebig. Es wird als gepresster Block geliefert, daß Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist absolut in Ordnung. Die Qualität des Mooses ist gut. Ich habe meine Orchideen überdies ganz locker in das feuchte Moos gesetzt, eigentlich eher vorsichtig eingepackt,wichtig dabei ist, daß die Luftwurzeln außerhalb des Topfes sein müssen. Ich persönlich finde es sehr hübsch wenn die Luftwurzeln wild über den Rand hinaus wachsen. Da das Moos sehr viel Feuchtigkeit speichert, müssen die Orchideen weniger gestört werden beim versorgen. Ich besprühe sie alle drei bis vier Wochen mit einem Flüssigdünger den ich mit Wasser verdünnt habe, auch die Blätter. Das Moos saugt einen Teil der Feuchtigkeit auf, und so schaffe ich ein gutes Microklima im Topf. Das Moos sieht zudem viel hübscher und feiner aus, als dieses grobe Granulat...natürlich stehen auch meine Orchideen im Topf, aber manche blühen ständig, wie man auf den Fotos sieht,was mich bestätigt. Da ich ihre Stängel auch nicht anbinde und nur im Notfall schneide, wachsen sie wunderschön in alle Richtungen. Ich mag diese wilde & ursprüngliche Art. Gerne reiche ich Fotos nach... ich hoffe daß ich ein wenig Inspiration liefern konnte, und bedanke mich für das Lesen meiner Rezension..

I'm a new owner of Leopard gecko, I ordered this and when arrived I was a bit confused and concerned about the size and amount lol, so I tore off a large piece (half the package). After soaking, I realized I could cover half the vivarium with this moss! It's very efficient, doesn't stink, rinses easily, and dries quickly, so you can save too much for later. The colour is neutral - mix of green, brown and yellow but it's nice. It's a great value for money, so my gecko and I are very satisfied. Now I only use a little

I needed sphagnum moss for my carnivorous plants and knowing it’s for reptiles I know it’s safe from fertilizers and pesticides; I used it as a separation barrier between the water table and the peat/perlight mix, yes I left the compressed block outside when it rained and it had swelled.
