The idea is that you color in areas according to a color key and reveal an architectural landscape. In addition there is a page of thumbnail coloring guides to the design. This is a very large format coloring book - almost 11 by 15 inches, with the design on single-sided, perforated pages. I initially thought 30 pictures was too little and was concerned I would go through them quickly but the level of detail that you have to color in is quite high and this will take a good amount of time to work through. About half of the pictures are made up of small hexagons or squares and the other half are made of different shapes, including very tiny spaces to fill in. Definitely need markers with fine tips or gel pens if you're not using colored pencils. I thought the quality of the paper was good and each picture is printed on only one side so you don't have to worry about bleed through. I used Crayola Supertips and you can barely see any bleed through in the back. The pages are also perforated so I can easily remove each page as I'm working on it. Makes it much easier to color in the fine details.

Color by Number for Adults!!!
I absolutely love these books!! If you color & are thinking about giving color by number a whirl , be prepared to be addicted!!!! Or if you are just looking to add to your Color Quest books, you will not be disappointed!!! I travel a lot so this is one of my favorite Color Quest books! With Color Quest , your picture is a mystery until you are finished. You might have an idea half way through coloring that you may be seeing the Empire State Building but it is not until you are completely finished that you know for sure & all the little details come to life!!! Coloring is most relaxing for me & helps me escape from my stressful day at work. Color Quest books are my favorite!!!

Different for an avid colorer but in a good way
I first saw these in a bookstore but i just knew i could find this coloring book and others for way cheaper on here. As a big fan of adult coloring books i was really excited about this one as it is different than you typical color by number. I really enjoyed the pixel like squares to color in and that the numbers were easy to read. On some of the pictures it was hard to match the colors given but i just used what I had was the closest color to that and picture still came out great! I hope they make more books!

Uniqueness, super challenging, and mind boggling
To begin, this is one of the finest, most challenging color books that I ever come across. The details of some of the pictures are complex. It is very unusual to find a color book like this one, especially color by numbers. I cannot wait to start my first picture. As I go along, I will keep editing this review so as to show what I am doing and the obstacles I may come across. I will try to take a photo of the completed picture and post it. I do hope that the picture will be published on this review. So, here goes. Most of my comments are positive but there were a couple which might sound negative which I have already explained. I would like to get a good eraser that won't smear the color if a mistake is made, best to use hard color pencils to avoid smearing and shading is not really needed. To add, a better rendition of the color plates could be improved on each sheet. In the beginning, I had to sample each color pencil that I have so it can closely resemble the color I want. Overall, I would rate it at 4 and a half stars but I couldn't fill in half. It is still worth 5 stars. I am editing my review somewhat. I found that the color chart can be much improved to outline the colors more to scale. I am presently doing the New York and the bridge that crosses it. According to the color chart, it showed that the lighted flame on the torch was more of a brown color. I feel that experimenting with colors would be better suited for more realism. It is very important to take your time and do it the best you can. Overall, I find that this is the best coloring system that I have endured. It is very relaxing and I am sure the outcome will show the uniqueness in how it is colored. Be prepared for a lot of a continuance of the same patterns on some of the matrix types of design. You can't rush it and it may take quite some time to do a good job. I can't wait until I get to frame it and show it here. For some reason, I keep editing this post. Maybe, it is because of what I find can either be an obstacle or value to the plates to be colored. I was so eager to do the New York skyline but something got on the sheet and made a hole in it. I want to accomplish a city skyline so I chose Tokyo. Little did I know it was super challenging but as I kept coloring, everything kind of fit in place. Mistakes are pretty common due to the many buildings which have areas which are so close together, you forget that pencils cannot stay sharp and have to be very careful that the point doesn't break. I am using Pentel but still, I find the hardness of the colors not to what I would like it to be. Although I made some errors, probably no one will notice it except for me. So far, I spent over 20 hours and still have about a quarter way to go. I give myself a lot of credit though as I am persistent. The key is to not rush it. Take your time don't rush. The next post will show the picture that I colored. Once again, I am editing this as I finished doing the picture of Tokyo Skyline and I must say it was difficult due to detailed buildings and I know that errors were made. I had to erase some of the outlines as I used the wrong color. It took me about 25 hours I posted the picture it is not in the rotation and I tried to rotate it, but I couldn't.

LOVE these pixilated coloring books!! Best out there!
I’ve been buying this color book along with Color Quest and Color Quest Animals for 2 years now. Haha have at least 15 of each. I’m obsessed. Each page in these books is A+ and keeps your engaged and busy for hours. I always look forward to getting back to my coloring page every evening. Paper is of great quality with the right quality markers. I primarily use sharpie fine points or Copics or even Bic intensity fine points. They work GREAT! Colored pencils too! I’ve not experienced with gel pens or other mediums but I do love using markers most! Love these coloring books!

Such a delicious challenge with beautiful results - for experienced, patient colorists.
My favorite series of color by number books. Half are repeating shapes of which one is triangles and the others divided between squares and hexagon. The other half are 'mosaic' types. I much prefer to use Prismacolor and Holbein pencils which require less hand pressure. The buildings in the mosaic pictures have fiendishly tiny details so I had to choose from firmer pencils such as Marco Raffine, Marco Renoir, Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor, Caran d'ashe which limit how much time I can spend coloring each day. Printed on one side on heavy paper, perforated for easy removal; I pull each one out and work on an 11 x 15 clipboard. I had preordered this and it arrived by August 1, and 3 months later I have a few half done and 5 still waiting. I saved my favorites. The only 'dud' is the Eiffel tower; with its hideous red-white-blue sky I can't bring myself to color it. Yet I'm sad to be nearing the end of this book and wondering how long until the next one. I wish they would publish a new one every 6 months!
