I've been running the same system and same storage since 2018, a standard HDD and SSD boot drive combo. Over the last year I've noticed a significant drop in performance with applications and games. I attributed this to my hard drive where those programs were stored due to it's slow read and write speeds when i monitored them. I finally chose to purchase a new larger SSD to store games and applications and decided on this SSD as it was well reviewed, well priced and boasted some good specs. The installation was easy, apart from my own hiccup. When installing, make sure other storage drives are plugged into sata ports that won't be disabled when inserting a new SSD. Checking your motherboard's manual will let you know which sata ports will be unusable. Once that issue was sorted, I checked the BIOS, confirmed the SSD was recognised. Launched the PC, found the drive and partitioned it. It was ready to go. Since moving some video games like fortnite and valorant, I've noticed much faster loading times, reduced lag and no crashes. If you're having similar issues with performance, I highly recommend picking up one of these.

If your a gamer and need a lot of storage space, then the crucial 4tb M.2 Nvme drive is for you. In the packet you get the drive, a screw and a small manual as well. The drive has a sticker on it, it is not recommended you remove it as its used for heat dissappation. Note that, you need a heatsink if you are going to install this in your pc, or some heat tape if your using this in a laptop. Neither is included in the box, so plan accordingly. If you want to get the most out of your drive, you will need to download the crucial software from their website. The software did not recognise the P3 drive as an external unit, only internally, so I was unable to test the software beyond basic information about drives included in the host unit. In terms of speed, its a really fast drive, very quick, I was seeing transferrings in 500mb+ upto 600mb in some instances, so for basic transfer and storage its an ideal drive with lots of room. The only issue is the heat, this drive gets very hot in use if you are transferring a lot of data. I transferred 1.5tb of steam games and that drive gets very warm. While these drives are designed to throttle back performance in these instances, tailor that with bitlocker and the drive will slow down quite considerably in use during data writes. Reading is super fast, writing is entirely dependant on the host computer and where the data is coming from. it can drop to as low as 80mb in some incompatible situations, however this is usually due to older drives or direct drive transfer from say SSD to NVME. Pros: 4tb storage, long warranty, fast drive with sustained read/writes of 3-600mb. Cons: Gets quite warm with prolonged use, software does not work with external enclosures it seems.

I had my doubts: it was too cheap. When it arrived the sticker on it indicated that it was a returned item, and I started to worry! However, it works nicely, has full capacity and a good speed. Of course, one has to partition and format the SSD before use, and I assume that it was returned because the original buyer didn't do this, fitted it and found that it didn't appear at once in the file manager. Their loss - my gain. It's a pity that Crucial are withdrawing from consumer sales, as it's a sound item.

great performance and affordable NVME. it does not need any form of cooling plate so I was able to install it on the back of my motherboard. after observing for a few days during gaming and normal workload it does not seem to really heat up
