Nothing better than Scanpan!
This is our Third Scanpan, and we love them. Quite simply the best non-stick cookware we have found.Let me give a quick background - After we collected All-Clad for several years, it was evident that the non-stick All-Clad was not up to the task. It began to get old and clean-up became tiresome and difficult as the All-Clad non-stick coating wore down and honestly stopped working. We also own some of the All-Clad stainless that is "supposed" to be non-stick based on heating it first, but I find that to be untrue. For pots and other cookware we still like it.Scanpan has become our favorite cookware over the last 3 years, and the first one purchased is as clean and effective as this brand-new one. No visible wear or tear at all, and a breeze to clean up. We started with the small 8 inch, then the 10 inch, and now the 12 inch to round out our collection and replace our last All-Clad non-stick. It is all very durable and fast to heat up, giving perfect even heating across the pan. All of our pans are the CTX line, which we found to be a bit more heavy duty and well built than the cheaper line- thicker with a better handle. I can't speak to how the cheaper line may work. My only small complaint is only during clean-up - the small steel buttons where the handle is attached is a bit harder to clean, and by saying this you know we are spoiled because the rest of the pan is clean with a wipe of a paper towel or cloth, then you have to scrub the buttons for a few seconds to remove food from them. No biggie. If only they were made from the same material!I can't say enough about these - they are all we use now. Highly recommended and well worth the extra money!

Best non-stick pan I've owned
This is an expensive pan, no doubt, but the ease of cleaning it and it's excellent cooking properties make it worth the money. The Scanpan rarely takes more than 15 seconds to scrub the cooking surface clean and the nonstick quality is top-notch. My housemate is harder on non-stick cookware than I am, so my reliable old Ikea pans went down hill quickly. I tried the ceramic-coated non-stick pan to avoid the non-stick chemicals and because the coating is supposed to be more durable. While the ceramic coating does seem to be the strongest at resisting scratches, it was not any easier to clean that a regular steel pan and the non-stick quality was middling (when I cooked eggs there would be a lot left stuck to the pan).

Good pan and worth $$
I ordered this from Amazon because I was tired of buying cheap non-stick egg pans (used primarily for one or two eggs) that I wouldn't care if they were wrecked in dishwasher. But, the outsides of same would always get sticky. Don't know why. Read about Scan Pan somewhere and decided to do a little research. Based on what I read (sturdy, heavy and best of all - could go in dishwasher withouth harm), I decided to splurge. The pan is terrific. It cleans up in DW, acts like non-stick (we don't use metal in it though) but doesn't have teflon (bad stuff and I don't want it in my kitchen). Is heavy so it doesn't overheat too fast and my husband can use it easily. What more can I ask. I am hopeful it will be worth the splurge in price, but only time will tell that. Like another reviewer here, I too own a high rated cook set, but this is a better deal as their non-stick should not be put into dishwasher. Life is too short not to be able to do that if I want to.

Fantastic, If You Take Care Of It.
The Scanpan CTX 11" fry pan is honestly the best performing non stick fry pan I've ever owned. After upgrading to an induction range in my kitchen, I needed to replace most of my cookware and while I got All Clad Copper Core stainless for everything else, I wanted a singular non stick fry pan for eggs, and what not, and All Clad's non stick offerings were somewhat less than desirable. After doing a great deal of research I landed on the Scanpan CTX 11" fry pan and could not have been happier. The non stick surface is fantastic, if you take care of it. I know in the description it says metal utensil and dishwasher safe but come on, it's a non stick (high temperature plastic/polymer) coating and physics are physics. If you scrape a metal utensil across a plastic surface, regardless of how well the plastic surface is engineered, eventually the metal utensil is going to win, so just don't even bother if you care about the longevity of your non stick cookware. The same thing goes for the dishwasher, with the harsh detergents and high temperatures.I only use silicone (not plastic, but actual silicone) utensils with my Scanpan CTX fry pan, and only hand wash it. I've had it over two years and it still looks and performs like it was when it was brand new. The <TLDR> is this is a great, fantastic non stick pan, if you take care of it. Only hand wash, and only use silicone utensils, and it will last you a great many years while offering fantastic non stick performance.

We love this pan!
I bought one of these Scanpans from Sur La Table about 7 years ago (for a LOT more money) and used it for a large number of cooking tasks, one of which was searing steaks, scallops, fish, chicken... it did a great job, but the problem was the atomized oils bonded with the non-stick surface and eventually removed all of the non-stick properties. It became impossible to clean and eventually we had to get rid of it. Still, it lasted 7 years before it didn't work any more, but lesson learned. We tried using cast iron and carbon steel pans, and they work great for searing, but not as well for things like eggs and sticky dishes that really need a non-stick pan. When we saw the same pan come up on Amazon for less than half the price we originally paid for one, we jumped on it! Its SO GOOD to have this pan back again. It makes flawless egg dishes, is great for things like cream sauces, melting cheeses and even reheating thick chilis or beef stew. And cleanup is so simple, literally wash it out with warm water before the pan cools down, or use a soft scrubby sponge and dawn dish soap if it does cool.Just don't use the pan for searing and it should last for decades. I do wish that it came with a good metal lid.

Non-stick pan
I have bought and used Scan Pans for years and they are the best non-stick and longest lasting pans I have ever bought. I bought this one for the cottage as the ones I have there are not functional.
